Nadal $2.60

Nadal looks the good thing on a tricky and competitive program of racing.

The Xtravagant gelding was great without winning two starts back at Flemington, and he turned heads when demolishing a handy field at Cranbourne at his latest outing.

The bigger Pakenham circuit will suit his racing pattern and style, and with even luck in transit, I expect him to prove too strong late.

Very useful and progressive!

Here To Shock is coming off a forgive run in ‘The Big Dance’.

He had genuine excuses for his rare flop, and his form prior was first-class.

His record at the distance is outrageous, and he looks well placed in this company.

The big boy gets in well at the weights, and I suspect he will pilot the field with a clean break from the barriers.

Take on trust.

Smokin' Romans $4.00

Smokin’ Romans has recaptured his mojo.

The rising nine-year-old was brilliant when winning at Flemington on Champions Day, and he was game in defeat in tough conditions at his latest outing.

From barrier ten, he will roll forward and find the bunny, and if he can control the tempo throughout, he may prove hard to run down.

The grandstand weight and the long Pakenham home straight, are among the primary concerns.

Goldman is ready to peak.

Both runs this campaign have been good without threatening, and the 2500m is ideal at this stage of his campaign.

A perfect inside draw will allow him to settle closer in the run, and if the gaps appear as they run for the doctor, he can loom to win.

His recent winning record is the primary concern.

Shesallshenanigans $12.00/$3.50

Shesallshenanigans is over the odds.

The Toronado mare is ready to peak, and I suspect she has been trained to minute for her third-up assignment.

The step out in trip is advantageous, and the drop in class plays into her favour.

From barrier eight, she will slide back and find her hooves, and if she can stay in touch with the peloton during the middle stages of the race, she can make her presence felt late.

Samangu will start race favourite after recording back-to-back victories.

The Written By mare has upside for days, and she deserves her shot at this level.

The perfect inside draw is advantageous, and I suspect the 1200m is her sweet spot.

Her racing pattern and style will always require an element of good fortune.

Both are knocking on the door, and they find a winnable assignment.
