Bendigo September 3rd, Tips and Previews

Best Bet - Race 1

Fire $2.8

Fire faces a much easier maiden than he did when resuming from a spell at Randwick Kensington over 1250 metres.

He showed fantastic gate speed from a wide barrier to ping to the lead, but was just nabbed late in the race and ended up running third only beaten a length.

The drop back in distance looks ideal for him especially with a favourable barrier draw that will allow to kick up and hold the rail.

He has the fitness edge and strength on his side to run this field ragged.

Obfuscation $2

Three-year-old gelding Obfuscation comes out of a very highly rated race for a Bendigo maiden.

He has to endure a pretty tough run on debut over 1100 metres at this track and was still surging to the line late in the race to run third behind Beldivian and Vilana.

He draws out wide again, but with the step up in distance it should allow him to ascertain a front-running role.

The wet track will not be an issue for him having run on a soft seven on debut and handling the conditions well.

Best Roughie - Race 8

Lucky Plutus $15/$4.2

Lucky Plutus finds himself in with a much better chance than he did when resuming from a spell last start over 1400 metres.

He had to carry 63.5kgs around Bendigo in BM-58 grade at a distance which is clearly no where near his best but still did a good job to run fifth.

The tumble down to 58.5kgs and the rise to the mile is exactly what he is after as he progresses towards 2000 metres and beyond.

Suspect he can run a nice race from the barrier and Andrew Bobbin is starting to become a trainer to keep an eye on.

QUADDIE

Q

$100 for 31.25%

The quaddie is likely to be run when the predicted torrential downpour occurs.

As such, we want to be with rock hard fit horses who draw off the fence.
