The General resumes off a spell with a jumpout and trial under his belt to get him up to the mark for this race.
His 990-metre Cranbourne trial on August 9th was as good on the clock as it was to the eye as he went on to defeat the speedy Ancestry.
Interesting that Richard Laming gets him up to 1200 metres for the first time in his career.
It suggests Laming may have found the trick to getting this to settle and conserve his energy.
Craig Williams is booked to ride this five-year-old gelding first-up, which signals big intent and the pair will jump from a soft gate.

Andrew Noblet has his seven-year-old mare going great guns and she gets her chance to make it a second win this preparation.
Her only win has come at the Sandown Hillside track over the mile, but she has raced so well behind some smart types at her last two starts.
She nearly nabbed victory in a BM-78 at Flemington behind odds-on favourite Hosier.
A return to the midweek races sees him the leading chance in this event and gun senior hoop Ben Melham has replaced apprentice Madison Lloyd.

Laffalong tumbles back in grade after tailing out in a BM-84 mares exclusive race at Flemington on August 7.
She only just held her ground when flattening out in the straight and now Nigel Blackiston has opted to apply the blinkers for the first time in order to sharpen her up.
On the official weight scale, this mare has been assigned the 59kgs but Alana Kelly being booked means the three-kilo claim kicks in and she only has to carry an extra two kilos from last start.
Wide barrier might prove a bit of a headache, but at the odds we have to be with this galloper.
