Eagle Farm Race 1

Uncommon James
(7) Uncommon James $8.00-win $2.50 place, this is an in from horse from the O’Dea/Hoysted stable. The trained colt stormed home to come 2nd in a very quick 900 metre dash at Gold Coast on a Soft Track. It then trailed very well in Doomben coming 1/8. This horse maps very nicely from barrier (8) and should be right in the finish. It is a very good chance for a win bet.
The Danger in this race is a horse that will start favourite called Maotai (8) $3.50 win a 2-year-old Colt. It will have an experienced jockey B Stewart, who will be on the saddle and has drawn right next to Uncommon James in barrier (7) both will be fighting to be in that 1-1 sit position.
This horse won on debut by 5.3 lengths. The competition will be much harder here, this looks like a very strong colt.
I would recommend having a crack at a Quinella, 7,8.

Ayrton
(2) Ayrton $1.80 win this is a short, priced favourite from the Mick Price stable. I am going to keep this very simple it has drawn (1). It will get a peach of a ride with J Mac on board here.
The only danger here is a horse called Ellsberg $3.70 who has drawn (7) I couldn’t trust it for the life of me. Ellsberg has lost twice in a row as favourite and hurt the punters pocket. Meanwhile, the distance of 1600 metre’s is the perfect distance for Ayrton who hold’s a very strong form of 3 wins in a row beating Apache Chase home.
We think, J Mac should salute at the post early here winning by 3 lengths!

Zaaki
(1) Zaaki $1.50 this is the shortest price of the program. This will be another salute for James McDonald drawn (8) the distance of 2200 metres, won’t be a problem coming off a brilliant victory at Doomben Group 1 2000 metres.
Every other horse will find it very hard to challenge here. The only danger here is Toffee Tounge $10-win $2.40 place, Nash Rawiller will be on board and Chris Waller it has a good record in Group 1 races. It came 2nd last start and challenged Zaaki before getting outclassed by 7 lengths. It is a chance for each way play.
But we would recommended Zaaki to win is the safe bet!

Southern Lad
(5) Southern Lad $8.00-win $2.50 place: I think the distance of 1200 metre will suite this Gelding here. I think 3rd up it will be rock hard fit and with Tommy Berry, on the saddle. He should ride a peach of race drawn (7) with not a lot of speed in this race it should be very competive.
The danger horse here is Away Game $7.50-win $2.50 place drawn (8) will be following a similar map to Southern Lad it will have Kerrin McEvoy on the saddle. Its best is good enough falling just 0.2 lengths short to superstar horse Isotope.
I would be having an each way play on both with money back up to $50 on 2nd and 3rd.

The Harrovian
The best race on the program the Stradbroke Handicap, It is hard to go against connections that won recently. (12)The Harrovian $8.50 win $2.70 place this looks like a fresh race for him. Champion Jockey Glen Boss will be on the Orange Demon it’s record in Eagle Farms speaks for itself being 2/2 at this track.
I would be backing it at odds here!

Odeum
We are going with (5) Odeum $8.50-win $2.50 place out of the Mick Price stable. The team down there have gotten James McDonald on board to ride and aren’t going with Michael Walker.
It’s best is good enough falling 0.2 lengths short to Superstar Isotope. It’s been in the placing’s 5 times out of 8 starts and the distance of 1300 metres, should suite the horse. If it is on pace, where it should be it win’s this race.
