Best Bet - Caulfield Race 7
7
Cosmic Crusader $2.50
Cosmic Crusader is airborne at present.
He strips fitter after his first-up heroics, and I suspect he is more suited stretching out over of the 1400m.
The key appointment of William Pike should raise eyebrows, and he has been heavily supported since acceptances.
The current track conditions suit to a tee, and he meets similar opposition.
The carpark draw is the primary concern.
Private Eye is a marvel.
The rising ten-year-old doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and his best performance here would be fences and panels better than his rivals.
His record at the track and trip must be respected, and he enjoys getting his toe into the ground.
His recent winning record is the biggest deterrent.

Arkansaw Kid $9.00
Arkansaw Kid was good, finishing second-up at Flemington in a similar event.
He tends to improve with a run under his belt, and he finds his pet distance on Saturday.
The middle gate provides the money man, Mark Zahra, with multiple options in the run, and his heavy form is near-perfect.
The big boy offers great each-way value.
Recommendation looks well placed in this company.
The Shalaa gelding always attracts significant market support, and he will look the winner as they run for the doctor.
The addition of Blake Shinn should give his supporters confidence, and I suspect this has been the long-range target from the astute camp.
He needs to put another victory on the board.
Best Roughie - Caulfield Race 9
4
Detonator Jack $18.00/$4.50
Detonator Jack is over the odds.
The Jakkalberry gelding savaged the line last week in a similar race, and he looks tempting on the quick back-up.
He meets the winner and most of the field better off at the weights on Saturday, and I suspect the Caulfield course proper will suit his racing pattern and style better than the inside Heath circuit.
A must for all broader multiples and exotics.
First Chorus is winning for fun at present.
The Ghilbellines mare meets similar opposition, and she is rock-hard fit after a lengthy and fruitful campaign.
Her form on rain affected surfaces speaks volumes, and with even luck in-transit, she can win again.
Hard to toss!
QUADDIE
Q
$100 for 50%
Lara Antipova and Natural Fling can get our quaddie off to a flyer.
Both gallopers have exceptional exposed form, and I expect them to battle it out in the shadows.
The flying Cosmic Crusader can continue on his winning way in the Group 2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes, while we have a handful of runners flying the flag in an even edition of the Regal Roller Stakes.
It’s a field job in the lucky last.
