Best Bet: Max Verstappen
May 26th
Seven races into the season, and the three-time reigning champion is only 48 points ahead of Charles Leclerc? Yes, the driver championship is still up for grabs, sort of.
Max Verstappen will be looking to increase his 161-113 lead over the hometown star and win his sixth race of the season at Monaco on Sunday.
After losing the Miami Grand Prix to Lando Norris earlier in the month, the Dutch superstar turned the tables on the McLaren driver at Emilia Romagna with a .725s victory and extended his lead at the top of the standings.
While McLaren has certainly closed the gap on Red Bull and Ferrari (who are currently second) over the past two races, there’s no doubt the triple champ will want to emulate the form he showed at the same time last season when he went on a 10-race winning streak.
Suggested Bet:
Verstappen to win at $1.65
Next Best: Charles Leclerc
May 26th
On the flip side of the Verstappen argument is the Monaco-born Charles Leclerc, who is still chasing his first win of the season.
His form, however, hasn’t been poor by any stretch, with the Ferrari star standing on the podium four times from his seven races and not once finishing lower than fourth. There will undoubtedly be an underlying hunger for success, with the 26-year-old failing to finish on the podium at his home track thus far in his career.
But $5.50 for a guy who knows the tight-turning Monaco roads better than any other driver? Yes, please.
There’s a feeling that Leclerc is building into the season nicely after his consecutive third placings at Miami and Imola, and we’re more than happy to take his current price to find out.
Suggested Bet:
Leclerc to win at $5.50
Best Value: Carlos Sainz Jr.
May 26th
There were several options for the value play in Monaco, but we’ve settled on Carlos Sainz at $15 ahead of Sergio Perez ($14) and the ‘apparently improving’ Mercedes pair at $51 each.
Once could consider the Spaniard overs at his current price after winning the second race of the season in Australia and finishing third on another two occasions. While Verstappen was forced to retire in Australia, Sainz was outstanding as he comfortably defeated the likes of Leclerc (2nd), the two McLarens and Sergio Perez.
The price comes about from the fact he’s finished fifth in his last three races at China, Miami and Imola, but let’s not forget he finished second at this very track in both 2021 and 2022.
A win to his name this year, a liking for the track and form line that hasn’t finished lower than fifth, Sainz is certainly one to watch.
