Best Bet - Rosehill Race 5

King's Gambit $5.00

King’s Gambit never handled the famous Flemington straight.

The I Am Invincible colt is more suited around a bend and usually performs well second-up.

The 1200m is ideal at this stage of his preparation, and he meets similar opposition.

From barrier seven, he can sit outside the lead, and if he doesn’t spend his pennies too early, he can figure in the finish.

Big watch!

Ozzmosis could be the real deal!

The undefeated Zoustar colt is now ready for the 1200m, and he has been ultra-impressive each time he has stepped onto the track.

From barrier six, he will take up his favourite role as race leader, and if he runs out a strong six-furlongs, he will prove hard to run down.

The predicted early-speed battle may be his undoing.

Protagonist $7.00

Protagonist is ready to peak a win.

The Wootton Bassett gelding has produced two teasing and ominous performances this campaign, and I suspect he has been trained to explode third-up from a spell.

From barrier one, he can have an economical run in transit, and if the gaps appear as they straighten, I expect him to savage the line late.

He is undefeated at the trip, and this looks like the race for him to stand up and make a name for himself.

Numerian is an honest customer.

His best form reads well for this event, and he looks the likely leader on paper.

His trials leading into this event have been rock-solid, and if he is fully wound up for a first-up tilt, he will look the winner at the top of the final furlong.

Father time and the allocated weight are among the primary concerns.

Roots $10.00/$3.30

Roots is over the odds.

The Press Statement mare always performs well fresh and is no stranger to the 1400m first-up.

She can sit in the box seat from barrier three, and if Tommy Berry gets her off the rails at the right time, she can figure in the finish.

Her trials leading into this event have been ominous, and her best form reads incredibly well for this event.

She oozes class, and it may pay dividends to follow her throughout the spring and beyond.

Waterford is ready to peak.

Both runs this preparation have been honest, and he always attracts heavy market support.

The Awtaad gelding comes in well at the weights with 53.5kg, and the drop back to 1400m could prove a masterstroke.

His overall winning record is the primary concern.
