Best Bet - Doomben Race 6

King Kapa $3.20
King Kapa looks the good thing of the day!
After several key scratchings, the Capitalist gelding looks to have this race at his mercy, and his form this preparation has been outstanding.
The four-year-old is a winning machine, and if he doesn’t get too far out of his ground during the middle stages, I expect him to prove too strong late.
His winning record on heavy tracks is the primary concern.
Simply Fly is a must for all broader multiples and exotics.
The Spirit Of Boom gelding has an exceptional fresh record, and he will be cherry ripe for a first-up tilt after a recent barrier trial win.
The step up in grade is his biggest challenge.
Next Best - Doomben Race 5

Spacewalk $5.50
Spacewalk can win here after a gallant effort at the Sunshine Coast.
The drop in grade is significant, and the heavy track plays in his favour.
He will fly over the shorter trip and should be rock-hard fit at this stage of his preparation.
Jumping from the carpark is the primary concern.
Golden Boom will start favourite despite having his colours lowered first up.
He covered too much ground, and he was found wanting late.
A recent barrier trial should have the Spirit Of Boom gelding up and about, and I expect further market support if the track conditions improve throughout the meeting.
Best Roughie - Doomben Race 8

Excelida $13/$4.00
Excelida looks over the odds!
She caught the eye recently at a barrier trial and meets easier opposition here.
The wet track is advantageous; after several scratchings, she will jump from a middle gate.
If the leaders set a decent tempo throughout, I expect her to be running on late.
The talented Exceed And Excel mare could get her day in the sun on Saturday!
Scallopini must be included in all winning conversations.
The Snitzel gelding put two impressive wins together during the Melbourne autumn, and if he reproduces a similar effort here, he will figure in the finish.
The rising nine-year-old is racing in great spirit, and if he can overcome the 60kg and awkward barrier draw, he may prove too classy.
QUADDIE
Q
$12 for 100%
King Kapa, our best bet of the day, can get our quaddie off to a flyer.
He is the banker on a very competitive program of racing.
Champion Zaaki will be too strong in the Doomben Cup, while Scallopini, Cardinal Gem, and Excelida will fly the flag in the third leg.
Renaissance Woman, Premise, Super Chilled, and Reo can finish our day on a winning note.
Best of luck!
