Racing June 1st, Tips and Previews

Best Bet - Sandown Race 7

7

Vitruvius $3.50

Vitruvius is ready to win.

Plain and simple, he is the best horse in the race and has a big talent edge over this field.

Raced in much harder grade at Flemington last start and did not disgrace himself at all.

Drawn to be in the right part of the track with inclement weather likely to render the rail inferior.

Next Best - Warwick Farm Race 6

10

Petulant $2.30

First-up second-prep for this Hawkes-trained filly.

She has shown plenty of scope at her trials in the build up to her resuming run and has a very nice turn of foot.

Can easily make the progression to an average city race with the Wizard of the West in William Pike aboard to guide her around.

Best Roughie - Warwick Farm 1

5

Beirut Miss $12/$4.4

In a no-third dividend race, this looks a bit risky, but there is a lot to like about what Beirut Miss has shown at the trials.

The one thing to look for is a strong base of fitness to run well on these shockingly heavy tracks in Sydney.

Beirut Miss has had two nice trials and we know Joseph Pride is a jet at finding horses that handle the wet going.

Sandown quaddie time.

Bit of a tricky one with the wet weather rolling into Melbourne.

Should be able to find some value by taking our best bet in Vitruvius one out.

As for the rest, wide, wide and wide.
