Port vs. Demons
July 22nd
Melbourne is on the hunt for top spot against Port Adelaide on Thursday night after a shock loss to GWS last week.
The Demons looked lethargic in their 9-point defeat at the MCG but the Power did not exactly look convincing in its five-goal win over Hawthorn.
A home crowd cheering on the Power is exactly what Ken Hinkley’s thrive off, but the Demons have proven they respond well when being a handed a loss.
SUGGESTED BET:
Demons head to head at $2
- Suggested Same Game Multi:
- Leg 1: Melbourne head to head
- Leg 2: Total Points Over 151.5
- Leg 3: C. Petracca
- Combined odds = $6.50
Bombers vs. Crows
July 18th
Adelaide head over to Marvel Stadium to face Essendon with both teams looking to bounce back off heavy defeats.
The Crows were handed a lesson by Brisbane to the tune of 52 points after a final quarter fadeout, while the Bombers could not sustain a fast start against Geelong and would go down by 41 points.
Essendon is clearly the better team in 2021 and with a forward line containing an in-form Jake Stringer, Cale Hooker, Anthony McDonald Tipungwuti and Harrison Jones, the Crows defence will have its work cut out for it. .
SUGGESTED BET:
Bombers -20.5 at $1.90
Dockers vs. Hawks
July 3rd
Fremantle travel down to the Apple Isle when it goes head to head with Hawthorn on Saturday afternoon.
The Dockers will want to have their kicking boots on this week after missed opportunities in front of goal cost them dearly in their 16-point loss.
Hawthorn, too, need to pull a bit more out than it did in a five-goal defeat against Port in what was Shaun Burgoyne’s 400th match.
Fremantle would probably be $1.30 if this was played anywhere bar Tasmania.
SUGGESTED BET:
Dockers -4.5 at $1.90
Blues vs. Cats
July 3rd
Carlton is sweating on the fitness of co-captain Patrick Cripps ahead of this clash against Geelong.
The Blues’ skipper hurt his foot in the win over Fremantle last week but his absence might be cancelled out by the Cats opting to rest Joel Selwood as well as Jeremy Cameron suffering a hamstring injury.
Zac Williams is a welcomed inclusion for the Blues and will add som spark across half back.
The Blues will trouble Geelong in front of their adoring fans at the ‘G but the Geelong will just be a bit too much to handle.
There is some amazing value for the young Hawks side who should be fighting, all the way to the finish line.
SUGGESTED BET:
Blues +19.5 at $1.90
Lions vs. Saints
July 3rd
St Kilda head up to Queensland for a Gabba clash against Brisbane.
The Saints have managed wins against Richmond and Collingwood in the last fortnight, while Brisbane produced a stunning final quarter against Adelaide to run away with a 51-point triumph.
Interestingly, the Saints nearly pinched this fixture last season and may very well won cover the line here as their injury list begins to dwindle down.
SUGGESTED BET:
Saints +27.5 at $1.90
The battle of the AFL’s two babies takes places at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.
GWS might be a little bit more adept to the cold and windy conditions of Ballarat compared to its Gold Coast counterparts.
The Giants may have very well turned the corner after a fabulous upset win over Melbourne last week, but the Suns also produced a stunning victory with a 10-point win over Richmond.
Should be a great game but Giants have midfield depth.
SUGGESTED BET:
GWS Giants -16.5 at $1.90
The AFL media finally gets its wish with prized Western Bulldogs draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan making his debut against Sydney.
If there is one team to play against in a bid to learn what AFL is all about then it is a Swans team who come into this game off a 92-point shellacking of West Coast down at GMBHA Stadium.
Both teams possess oodles of young talent around the ground and this is going to be one of the games of the round.
Lance Franklin will be a big threat for this Bulldogs defence which struggles to contain tall forwards.
SUGGESTED BET:
Sydney +20.5 at $1.90
Richmond resume hostilities with long-time rival Collingwood with both teams seeking to bounce back off defeat in Round 16.
The Tigers looked a shadow of the team that won the premiership last season as it failed to account for Gold Coast and would eventually fall to a 10-point loss, while a six goal to zero final quarter scurry by Collingwood was not enough to overcome St Kilda.
Tom Lynch was in great form kicking five goals last week, but the Pies have the men and defensive application to stop him and this out of form Tigers team.
Genuine flip of the coin game but Pies are juicy odds.
SUGGESTED BET:
Magpies head to head at $2.30
Respect is what West Coast will attempt to tape back together when it faces North Melbourne at Optus Stadium.
If there was an award for worst team performance of the year it would almost certainly be handed to West Coast after its horrific display against Sydney last week.
North Melbourne did put up a gallant fight against Western Bulldogs in Round 16 to only go down by 29 points which was stark improvement from the 128-point flogging it copped back in round three.
The line looks overplayed by the bookies here.
West Coast should win and continue its strong form over North in recent years by the value has to be with North at the plus.
