Best Bet - Caulfield Race 7

Benedetta $2.60

Benedetta is a marvel.

The Hellbent mare is building an exceptional career record and has the world at her feet.

Her fresh win at Flemington was soft as butter, and she will take benefit and improvement due to her recent outing.

She is undefeated second-up, and the 1200m is her pet distance.

From barrier nine, she will sit midfield with cover, and if she is presented with her run at the right time, I expect her to win with a leg in the air.

Hard to toss!

Parisal was a brilliant winner first-up at Randwick.

The Astern mare needs to learn how to run a bad race, and she looks well-placed in this company.

Barrier eleven is a concern, and I am worried she will produce a flat second-up run after a gut-busting performance fresh.

She can figure in the finish with the right run in transit.

Alligator Blood $5.00

Alligator Blood can pinch another time-honoured Group 1 fresh!

The All Too Hard gelding is the best 1400m horse in the field, and he usually goes faster than last week’s pay first-up.

His two recent barrier trials were delicious, and he has been smashed since the markets opened.

The Gai Waterhouse polish must be respected, and Tim Clark has a winning association with the talented front-runner.

Barrier fourteen is the only deterrent.

The people’s horse, Mr Brightside, will start favourite after an arrogant first-up victory.

The Bullbars gelding has produced a stunning twelve months, and he put his hat in the ring for Australian Horse of the Year honours.

He is a track and distance specialist, and his record second-up is nearly faultless.

I have yet to decide if staying at 1400m is advantageous, and the carpark draw makes his assignment slightly harder.

Georgie Get Mad $11.00/$3.50

Georgie Get Mad looks excellent each-way value.

The Australia gelding had a luckless path fresh at Caulfield, and I suspect the form out of the race will stand up for the duration of the spring!

The step out in distance is ideal, and he traditionally races well second-up from a spell.

The enigmatic five-year-old has a serious turn of foot, and if he can produce his customary sizzling late sectionals, I expect him to figure in the finish.

Aspen Colorado will start favourite after a string of narrow defeats.

The 2kg apprentice claim is advantageous, and he will appreciate the significant drop-in class.

He, unfortunately, has the ability of bombing the start, and his racing pattern and style will always require an element of luck.

Take on trust!
