Cotehele $4.60

Cotehele can bounce back after a luckless run in the Listed Civic Stakes.

He looked the winner on straightening, and despite racing greenly and being inconvenienced at a crucial stage, he only went down in the shadows.

From a middle draw, he can sit closer to the speed, and if Tom Sherry presses the go button at the right time, he may prove too classy for his rivals.

The 54kg is a luxury; if he gets the rub of the green on Saturday, I expect this to be his breakthrough moment.

Tamahere is ready to fire.

Wootton Bassett mare was good without threatening first-up, and her late sectionals put the writing on the wall for a forward second-up performance.

The Annabel Neasham polish must be respected, and I expect her to get the run of the race from barrier three.

It may pay dividends to watch for any significant market support.

Wewillrock $6.50

Wewillrock is a marvel!

Both Australian starts have been full of merit, and the El Roca gelding is ready to win.

His recent barrier trial will have him cherry ripe for this assignment, and the step out to 1200m looks ideal at this stage of the campaign.

From barrier six, the rising five-year-old will push forward in search of the lead, and if he can stay out of the predicated speed battle early, he may prove hard to run down.

Iowna Merc will start favourite after an ultra-consistent preparation.

The Winning Rupert gelding doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and he should arguably be undefeated this time.

From barrier eight, the Bjorn Baker-trained runner can drift back and find his feet, and if he doesn’t get too far out of his ground during the middle stages, I expect him to make his presence felt late.

The apprentice claim is advantageous, and he is ready for the six furlongs.

Crosscheck $13.00/$4.00

Crosscheck can resume a winner for her new stable.

Her first-up record is rock-solid, and she races well at the track and distance.

Her recent barrier trials leading into this event have been first-class, and she has been specked at a price in early betting.

The apprentice claim is advantageous, and I expect her to get a soft run in transit from the middle gate.

Over the odds!

Diamond Diesel will start favourite after a string of narrow defeats.

The Mossman gelding has filled the minor placings at his past five outings and is knocking on the door.

He meets similar opposition here, and with the apprentice claim, he comes into all winning conversations.

His ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is the primary concern.

QUADDIE

Q

$60 for 100%

Insurrection has a stranglehold on the opening leg of the quaddie.

The Russian Revolution gelding has an exceptional turn of foot and can lead his rivals a merry dance on Saturday.

Our best bet Cotehele can win the Listed Winter Stakes, while Conscript, Much Much Better, Wewillrock, and Iowna Merc have the penultimate event between them.

I am very happy to stay out of the program’s final event.

Nothing would surprise!
