Best Bet - Flemington Race 7

Nature Strip $2.10

Death, taxes, and Nature Strip running well at Flemington.

The rising nine-year-old is back for another campaign, and I expect him to win with authority on Saturday.

Most of the field will need the run, while these conditions suit the Nicconi gelding perfectly.

Barrier one is tricky, however, James Mcdonald knows the old boy better than himself.

Coolangatta has been smashed since markets opened up.

1000m is her ideal distance, and her trial leading into this event should have her cherry ripe for Saturday.

She has a high cruising speed and may prove hard to run down.

September Run can run well fresh if she is fully wound up.

She loves Flemington, and her first up record must be respected.

Next Best - Flemington Race 5

Boogie Dancer $7.50

Boogie Dancer looks poised to strike first-up from an inside draw.

The 1400m fresh is ideal, and she should get the dream run just behind the leaders.

Her recent trial was outrageous, and her spring form must be respected.

With even luck on straightening, I expect her to be in the finish.

Annavisto is the class runner and the one to beat.

She ran in some serious races last preparation, and her best form wins this race comfortably.

However, I am happy to avoid the short odds, as I expect several runners will have more upside and further improvement.

She may have reached her peak previously.

Wrote To Arataki is putting the picket fences next to her name.

She is rock hard fit, and I expect her to lead them a merry dance on top of the speed.

If she can pinch some cheap sectionals, the bird may have flown at the clock tower.

Best Roughie - Flemington Race 4

3

Don't Doubt Dory $21/$6.00

Don’t Doubt Dory can win here at a reasonable price.

She loves Flemington and will relish the 2000m second-up from a spell.

The drop in grade is significant, and she is ideally weighted after the apprentice claim.

The wide barrier draw is the primary concern.

Fighting Arrow will start favourite after an impressive last-start win at Moonee Valley.

He has form around some serious gallopers, and Benchmark 84 is well within his reach.

Zoltan can bounce back here after a luckless preparation.

He seems to find more dead ends than a one-way street.

Win even luck, he can make his presence felt on Saturday.

QUADDIE

Q

$105 for 100%

Nature Strip and Daytona Bay are the standout selections in their respective legs of the quaddie.

They both look well-placed and are two of the better bets on a competitive racing program.

We have gone extremely wide in the remaining events.

Best of luck!
