Best Bet - Randwick Race 8

1

Anamoe $1.75

Death, taxes, and Anamoe!

The ‘Big A’ produced a near-perfect spring preparation, and I expect him to make a winning start to his autumn campaign on Saturday.

His first-up form has improved with age, and the son of Street Boss looks to have the autumn at his mercy.

Barrier eight won’t worry the versatile Godolphin superstar; only bad running luck will cost him victory.

Cox Plate placegetter El Bodegon can run well here first up.

The son of Kodiac has produced several impressive barrier trials leading to this event.

From a middle gate, Tim Clark can let the big boy balance up before unleashing his massive turn of foot.

I am looking forward to seeing his first full Australian preparation.

Fangirl will be thereabouts.

She always runs well fresh, and her first-up run behind Anamoe in the spring was a beauty.

Next Best - Randwick Race 2

7

Mr Severino $6.00

Mr Severino is racing in great spirit.

The Magnus gelding was narrowly defeated last start after a luckless run in transit.

From an inside draw, he should get the run of the race, and I expect a peak performance on Saturday.

The 1800m looks ideal for this stage of his preparation.

You Are King looks poised to strike after two narrow losses.

He is ultra-consistent, and he deserves a shot at this level.

Barrier two is advantageous, and he looks well placed here with 55kg.

King Kikau can run well here despite the $51 quote.

He will appreciate the predicated soft conditions and doesn’t know how to run a bad race.

Best Roughie - Randwick Race 6

1

Arkansaw Kid $16/$4.60

Arkansaw Kid was magnificent on debut.

He beat an intelligent field, and the form out of that race stood up the entire spring.

He has been freshened since, and his trials leading into this event have been first-class.

The predicated soft conditions are advantageous, and the Harry Angel colt has plenty of upside.

The wide barrier draw is the primary concern.

Learning To Fly will start favourite after winning impressively on debut.

Despite the awkward barrier draw, she has been well-backed since markets opened.

She will be thereabouts if she can get a good run in transit.

If she wins on Saturday, she will head the markets for the Golden Slipper.
