Best Bet - Ascot Race 8

Truly Inspired $3.20

Truly Inspired can bounce back here after a rare last-start failure.

He looks well placed despite rising sharply in grade.

The 54kg is a luxury, and the services of William Pikes are advantageous.

He races well at Ascot, and the 2200m is his best distance.

Neufbosc is the danger from an inside draw.

He savaged the line last start, and the eight-year-old is racing in career-best form.

Next Best - Ascot Race 9

The Velvet Queen $3.50

The Velvet Queen raced well last start behind the talented Billy Ain’t Silly.

She should be fitter for two runs back this preparation, and she will be hard to toss with the right run in transit.

The wide barrier is the only concern.

Vane Tempest will be competitive from an inside draw.

She ran well last start and should be a rock-hard fit on the quick backup.

Holy Ghost can be thereabouts after a freshen-up.

His form has been solid this campaign without a lot of luck!

Best Roughie - Ascot Race 7

Kia Ora Star $17.00/$4.20

Kia Ora Star can run well here at a reasonable price.

The evergreen galloper loves his racing, and he is still attacking the line despite being a rising 10-year-old.

He has drawn favourably, and I expect him to be in the finish with the right run.

Burnya To Survive will be hard to beat after an impressive last-start victory.

He should be fitter, William Pike retains the ride, and he has a good association with Ascot.

Corn Cob is a must for wider exotics.
