Moonee Valley October 1st, Tips and Previews

Best Bet - Race 6

6

He's The Real Deel $3.3

He’s The Real Deel has tasted defeated at his last two starts but has had excuses.

He was entered in races with a lot of early speed and big fields which were to his detriment given he was negatively ridden in both of those races.

He is best served when allowed to stride out and lead.

Jockey Brian Higgins should be able to find the front in this small field and control the race on what likes like it will be a track that favours on-pace runners.

Next Best - Race 5

Easy Single $3.8

The Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace-trained sprinter keeps stepping up the mark each time he has been sent out to race.

Made the rise from a maiden win to BM-64 grade last start and was dogged when fighting off a host of challengers to dart up the inside of runners and win at Swan Hill over 975 metres.

This is another stepping stone he has to take, but he looks fit enough and sharp enough to do.

Doubt the wet track will be of any concern and he will enjoy a perfect run from barrier three.

He possesses the sharpest turn of foot of anything in this field and should be winning this race with even luck.

Best Roughie - Race 2

11

Capital Legend $21/$6.5

One of the more intriguing runners on the program.

John Sadler debuted this horse over 900 metres up the Flemington straight and he was beaten behind the likes of General Beau and Finance Tycoon as a two-year-old.

The gelding was then sent straight to the paddock after that run and looks to have come back a completely different horse off the back of some quiet jump outs.

He takes a sharp rise in distance to 1533 metres, but he has given enough of a hit out in his jump outs and trials leading into this race to have his fitness up the mark.

He will be out of trouble from the wide gate and should be able to press forward to either lead or sit outside the lead which is where you need to be on the Moonee Valley track with the rail being out on a wet track.
