Best Bet - Race 8

Majestuoso $2

Majestuoso looks well placed to perform at this best as he returns to a track where he has had great success in the past.

He is two wins from two starts at Geelong and comes into this race after a nice run at the Kilmore mile circuit last start.

That distance is well short of his best, so it is safe to say the Gath camp were using that as a building block for this 2100-metre event.

The rise in distance will see him be much closer to the lead and he can use those rifling late sectionals to swamp this field.

Next Best - Race 7

Western Sonador $3.7

Western Sonador returns to the races after having nearly a month off, but that should stray punters away from him.

He raced well when running second-up from his spell to finish fourth in what looks a very solid form race at Melton over 2240 metres.

He draws the inside gate again here and with very little speed drawn inside of him and his biggest threat being drawn out wide and not yet race-fit he has the advantage.

Very tough to beat if maps well ahead of Wolf Stride which is what looks likely to occur.

Best Roughie - Race 2

Powderkeg $16/$4.4

Powderkeg has been going along much better than his form suggests.

He lobbed to 2150 metres last start in a high pressure race after racing over the mile two starts ago and probably just felt the pinch of that affair without a big fitness base to work off.

That run should strip him much fitter for this race and do not mind the fact he drops back down to the mile.

He draws a wide gate here, but there looks to be enough pressure in this event for him to slot into a spot midfield with cover.

Looks ready to run the best race of his current campaign.
