Capodanno has an impressive record at the mile with four starts over the distance boasting three victories.
He was simply no match for Loveplanet when resuming from a spell but plugged home solidly enough to suggest a big run is inbound.
The Shea Eden-trained six-year-old gelding will strip much fitter for the run and he is likely to be in the right part of the track.
Gun hoop Ben Melham stays in the saddle after riding him first-up.

Sandy Prince has been unable to find the winning post first just yet but the alarm bells were ringing after his last effort.
He resumed off a spell when racing in the lead over 1247 metres at Geelong only to be run down by The Garden in a hotly contested maiden.
That run will bring him on perfectly and it was a great sign to see him show the early speed he did to cross and lead.
Expecting him to show anywhere between two to four lengths of improvement which should see him winning this comfortably.
Expecting him to break his maiden today.

Dunmam $21/$5
Dunmam can be forgiven for a poor first-up effort after resuming from a two-year layoff.
The six-year-old gelding was beaten by 12 lengths over 1765 metres in BM-64 grade on a soft seven track with 60.5kgs.
It was clearly a far from ideal situation with which to produce a big run upon resuming from such a long spell.
He is already a winner second-up in his career and has proven he can handle a heavy track.
Might still need another run or two to really hit peak fitness and return to somewhere near his best but at the price he is hard to ignore.

Going as thin as possible early and then extending it as we head towards the final leg middle to ensure we are covered.
