Adelaide v Western Sydney
7.35pm 3rd June
Adelaide are playing for a home final whilst for Western Sydney this game is all about finishing their season off on the right note as their finals hopes are next to impossible.
The Reds were poor against Sydney FC in their last outing when smashed 4-1 and will be looking to bounce back and regain some much-needed momentum heading into the finals.
As for the Red & Black, their latest game was a decisive 2-0 victory over the Roar at Bankwest Stadium. It was however, just paper over the cracks.
Finals seem well out of reach for Western Sydney in a season that has been a major disappointment. They will be keen to finish strong and take something into the off-season.
The Wanderers victory over Brisbane is a sign of just how good they could’ve been this season. They also won a Sydney Derby, they’ve been a tease.
Adelaide might also be playing for a lot here but their recent results indicate anything but. Their current form has seen them lose 4-1 to the Sky Blues, two games before that they lost 2-1 to Perth and another two before that they went down 4-1 to City.
But I back Adelaide to turn this around now and get their momentum up and running before finals. I just don’t trust the flakey Wanderers.
SUGGESTED BET:
United @ $2.12
Brisbane v Sydney
3.05pm June 5th
Brisbane are coming into this with some very good form behind them and will help deliver them some confidence ahead of a massive game. Just two games ago they pummeled City 3-0 in front of their home fans.
Sydney’s last match was a resounding 4-1 win in Adelaide. A match which saw Adam Le Fondre find the back of the net twice + Bobo once showed their attacking threat.
Both teams love finding the back of the net and we should be set for a high-scoring affair. I don’t see either side relying on their defensive abilities to win this one.
The past three clashes between these two sides have all drawn which is interesting to note. I don’t see another draw coming here though, the Sky Blues were so good against Adelaide and showed that their best is still unreal.
SUGGESTED BET:
Sydney FC @ $2.01
Central Coast v Western United
5.05pm June 5th
Both teams head into this match in far different positions than was expected at the start of the season. The Mariners have far exceeded the expectations and will embark on a finals campaign and a tilt at a second championship.
As for the Green & Black, Mark Rudan is under pressure after they have lost their past seven games by a combined score of 22-3! Things are getting more dire as the season goes on for United.
The Central Coast lost the latest edition of the F3 Derby 2-0 in their last appearance.
Western United have no Besart Berisha and will rely on Allesandro Diamanti to provide a goal-scoring threat. It’s a massive burden to put on a player who has carried the team for most of the season.
Western United have had a good record in this fixture throughout the season.United won the most recent game between the pair 1-0 and before that it was 3-2 to the Central Coast.
Before that W.U. won 6-2, as well as 3-0 prior to that.
The Central Coast are playing far better but United will have some confidence given their recent results against the Mariners. On that evidence I’m happy to split the difference and sit on the fence.
