Via Sistina $1.90

Via Sistina is a marvel.

The Fastnet Rock mare wins for fun at the top level, and by the end of her current spring campaign, she will be mentioned among our best weight-for-age champions.

Her fresh victory over a sprinting trip was business-like, and I suspect her key rivals missed their chance to knock her off her perch on the heavy track.

The record-breaking victory in the W.S. Cox was arguably the win of 2024, and her performance at headquarters in the Champions Stakes was effortless.

Her second-up record must be respected, and the mile is ideal at this stage of her campaign.

I expect her to prove too strong with even luck in transit

Aeliana caught the eyes of punters late in the Winx Stakes.

The scarily talented Castlevecchio mare was near perfect during the autumn, and her victory in the Group 1 ATC Derby was the victory of a serious galloper!

The mile suits, and she is a proven winner at Flemington.

The weight-for-age scale plays into her favour, and if she sees clear air as heads turn for home, she can figure in the finish.

I fear she may be running for the minor end of the prize behind a superstar.

Mcgaw $6.00

Mcgaw was brilliant without winning fresh.

The I Am Immortal gelding was only gunned down late by a smart one, and I suspect the penny hasn’t fully dropped yet for the raw three-year-old.

The big boy strips fitter as a result of recent racing, and the drop back to 1100m plays into his favour.

From the middle gate he will roll forward and pilot the field, and if he can cheat the clock throughout, and may prove hard to run down.

Big watch!

Tycoon Star has progression and upside for days.

The Written Tycoon colt stamped his authority late fresh, and I suspect he can continue on his winning ways on Saturday.

The versatile three-year-old possesses a sharp turn of foot, and if he can find some cover from the tricky gate, I suspect he will figure in the finish.

I am usure the drop in trip is advantageous.

Abounding $9.00/$3.00

Abounding is over the odds.

The Rich Enuff mare is rock-hard fit atter a solid Brisbane winter campaign, and her first-up performance at Caulfield caught the eyes of punters when finishing on the heels of a smart one.

The consistent five-year-old looks well placed in this company, and I suspect she will appreciate the longer and spacious Flemington home straight.

The inside draw is advantageous, and if she sees oxygen as they run for the doctor, she can loom to win.

Lazzura has been crunched in most all in-markets.

The Snitzel mare was an impressive first-up winner at Randwick, and her versatility alone will take her a long way in this event.

The James McDonald and Chris Waller polish will attract further market support, and the four-year-old hasn’t missed a top four gurnsey since the moon landing.

QUADDIE

$80 for 100%

Revelare can get our quaddie hopes and dreams off to a flyer.

The So You Think gelding is motoring at present, and his latest victory at Caulfield was first-class.

The superstar mare Via Sistina has one hoof the till in the feature event on the program the Group 1 Makybediva Stakes, while a handful of selections fly the flag in the penultimate race on the card.

It’s a field job in the lucky last.
