Best Bet - Caulfield Race 9

Mr Brightside $1.85

Mr Brightside somehow continues to improve with age.

The fine wine had a stunning 2023 campaign, and I am sure the camp has the Bullbars gelding ready for another successful preparation.

Arguably the best middle-distance weight-for-age horse in Australia and a fan favourite, the champion six-year-old looks to have another Group 1 event at his mercy.

His record at the track and distance is outrageous, and he always runs well fresh.

With even luck in transit, I expect his love affair with Caulfield to continue on Saturday.

Pride Of Jenni will lead the field a merry dance.

Her front running style is a pleasure to watch, and if the favourite has an off day, she can pinch another feature.

The Pride Of Dubai mare is super honest, and I suspect she will look the winner as the field approaches the final furlong.

Asfoora $2.45

Asfoora has one hoof on the till!

The Flying Artie mare is resuming after a successful spring campaign, and she looks well-placed in this company.

Her form around Imperatriz reads incredibly well for this event, and she is undefeated at the track and distance.

She flies fresh, and I suspect this race could be over before patrons find their seats.

I expect her quote to shorten significantly before the times and margins are recorded.

Rey Magnerio is a winning machine.

The Magnus gelding is jumping through his grades this campaign, and the enigmatic four-year-old deserves his shot at this level.

If he can overcome the carpark draw, I expect him to savage the line late.

The obvious danger to the favourite.

Verifier $16.00/$4.00

Verifier is over the odds!

The Tivaci gelding was good without winning first-up, and he put the writing on the wall for a successful autumn preparation.

The form around him has stood up since his fresh run, and the mile looks ideal second-up.

From the middle gate, the big boy will drift back and find his hooves, and if he doesn’t get too far out of his ground during the middle stages of the race, he can threaten late.

His racing pattern and style will always require an element of luck.

Another Wil was a dominant winner first-up.

The Street Boss gelding looked classes above his rivals fresh, and he meets a similar field on Saturday.

His second-up record must be respected, and the mile won’t pose any problems.

The allocated weight and awkward barrier draw are among the primary concerns.

QUADDIE

$36 for 200%

Bold Bastille, Froebel Star, and Flattered will battle it out in the fillies edition of the Blue Diamond Prelude.

They all look to have promising futures ahead of them, and I suspect they will feature at the pointy end of the Group 1 Blue Diamond.

Asfoora looks a moral in the Rubiton Stakes.

Her best form reads incredibly well for this event, and she is an 1100m Caulfield specialist.

The people’s champion, Mr Brightside, is the one to beat in the C.F. Orr Stakes, while Exploring, Blanc De Blanc, Estriella, Moesha, So Glamorous, and Amoursirra will all run boldly in the lucky last.
