Best Bet - Caulfield Race 7

Veight $3.80

Veight was a brilliant winner first-up from a spell.

The Grunt colt has plenty of natural improvement to come, and he looks to have the spring at his mercy.

The step out to 1400m looks ideal second-up, and I suspect he will get the run of the race from the perfect inside draw.

If Ben Melham can get the big boy off the running rail when the whips are cracking, I expect him to figure in the finish.

Steparty was an arrogant winner first-up at Moonee Valley in a hot-form race.

The undefeated Artie Schille showed versatility fresh, and with even luck in transit on Saturday, he will be hard to toss.

The primary concerns are the wide barrier draw and a flat second-up performance.

Here To Shock $5.00

Here To Shock is ready to win!

Both runs this campaign have been ominous, and I expect a peak performance third-up from a spell.

The Shocking gelding was narrowly beaten by a smart one last start, and he lost no admirers’ carrying the grandstand after jumping from the carpark.

The form around him has stood up since, and he looks like one of the better bets on a very competitive program.

Amenable will start as the shortest-priced favourite of the day.

The Lonhro entire was a stunning winner first-up in a serious form race, and he was rewarded with a guernsey in a time-honoured event.

His second-up run in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes was super honest, and there is no shame finishing two lengths behind Mr Brightside, arguably the most consistent horse in the country.

Odds-on, look on!

Right You Are $20.00/$5.00

Right You Are doesn’t know how to run a bad race!

He deserves his shot at the top level and strips fitter after his impressive return to racing.

The 1800m looks ideal second-up, and I expect him to get the run of the race from the perfect inside draw.

If Ben Allen can camp the talented seven-year-old on the leader’s back, and the gaps appear as they run for the doctor, he can figure in the finish.

Over the odds!!!

Attrition is ready to win.

Both efforts in this campaign have been pleasing, and he is ready for the longer trip.

The form around Pinstriped reads exceptionally well for this event, and he could announce himself as a spring star on Saturday.

Barrier fifteen is the biggest deterrent.

$120 for 50%

Veight and Steparty will fight out the Caulfield Guineas Prelude.

Both are flying; I expect them to produce bold and forward performances.

Floating Artist, Goldman, Berkeley Square, Future History, and Alaskan God will all be prominent in a hot edition of the MRC Foundation Cup.

The early-speed battle will be an intriguing one!

Alligator Blood, Tuvalu, Without A Fight, Right You Are, Soulcombe, and Attrition will fight out the day’s feature event, the Group 1 Underwood Stakes. At the same time, Bacchanalia, Midwest, Viviane, and She Dances will battle it out in the lucky last.
