Best Bet - Caulfield Race 8

Ingratiating $4.40

Ingratiating looks poised to strike first-up from a spell.

The Frosted gelding broke the clock at a recent barrier trial, and his first-up form is outrageous.

He finds his pet distance on Saturday and looks ideally drawn in barrier four.

There has been a flood of money for the James Cummings running in early betting; I suspect this race has been a long-range target.

His best form reads incredibly well for this event, and with even luck in transit, I expect him to prove too strong late.

Mileva has the fitness edge.

The Headwater mare has been racing well without winning, and I suspect she is ready to explode at this stage of her campaign.

Her winning record at Caulfield speaks volumes; she is an 1100m specialist.

Too consistent to dismiss.

Riverplate $3.70

Riverplate is in winning form!

The Flying Artie gelding led them a merry dance last start at Sandown, and he meets similar opposition on Saturday.

The step out to 1400m is advantageous, and his second-up record is near faultless.

The 2kg apprentice claim could prove a masterstroke, and he strips fitter here.

From barrier thirteen, he can roll forward in search of the lead, and if he finds the front during the race’s early stages, it could be curtains a long way from home.

The rising five-year-old is an owner’s dream!

Hennessy Lad will have supporters after a stunning summer preparation.

The Belardo gelding is undefeated first-up and excels over the 1400m.

The Peter Moody factor must be respected, and there has been a flood of money since markets opened.

The form around him stacks up, and he will be there when the whips are cracking.

Barrier seventeen is the primary concern.

Honor Galore $17.00/$4.80

First starter Honor Galore can make a winning debut!

The Spirit Of Boom filly recently produced an eye-catching barrier trial, and her turn of foot was scintillating.

The regally bred two-year-old has speed to burn, and I expect her to be cherry ripe for her first-up assignment.

She was purchased as a $440,000 yearling and finds a winnable race on Saturday.

It may pay dividends to watch for any significant market support.

It’s A Lock In will start favourite after an impressive last-start win at Casterton.

The Russian Revolution filly has the best-exposed form in the race, and with even luck in transit, she can continue on her winning ways.

The 2kg apprentice claim helps her cause, and she is ready for the 1100m.

The class rise is her biggest challenge.

QUADDIE

Q

$64 for 100%

Brigantine can get our quaddie off to a flyer.

The Astern gelding doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and he looks well placed here, meeting easier opposition.

Troach, Flying On A Limb, Kin, and Smile And Wave will fly the flag for us in the second leg, while our best bet Ingratiating, can win the Sir John Monash Stakes.

Nothing would surprise in the lucky last.

Best of luck!
