Best Bet - Ipswich Race 8

Blaze A Trail $4.60

Blaze A Trail has turned heads in both starts this preparation.

The Criterion gelding beat all bar the smart Antino last start, and I expect him to produce a peak performance for the preparation on Saturday.

The 1350m is ideal at this stage of the campaign, and he should get the run of the race from barrier three.

The Maher and Eustace polish must be respected, and there has been a flood of money for him in early betting.

Irish Songs can run well at a decent price.

The Shamus Award gelding has hit the line strongly at his recent outings, and he is ready to fire over the longer trip.

His record at the journey must be respected, and he should save every inch of ground jumping from barrier one.

He is a winning chance if he can stay in touch with the leaders during the race’s middle stages.

Swiss Exile $2.50

Swiss Exile will start favourite after a consistent campaign to date.

The Pariah colt has been thereabouts in better races, and the Annabel Neasham-trained runner will appreciate the drop in class on Saturday.

There has been a flood of money for him in early betting, and this looks his best chance to break through for the preparation.

His winning record is the biggest deterrent.

Fashion Legend can run well despite the carpark draw.

His best form reads incredibly well for this event, and he is ready to peak.

The drop back to 1350m is advantageous, and he is too consistent to dismiss.

He needs to recapture his mojo!

Torque I Tee $12.00/$3.30

Torque I Tee is over the odds!

The Shalaa gelding is flying this campaign and deserves his shot at this level.

He chased home a smart one last start and meets easier opposition here.

The Ryan Maloney factor will attract market support, and he looks great each-way value.

Defiant Spirit will start favourite after his winning debut at the Sunshine Coast.

The Spirit Of Boom gelding was dominant in the small field, and I suspect he has plenty of natural improvement to come.

If he is presented to the middle of the track with his run at the right time, I expect him to storm home and fight out the finish.

It may pay dividends to watch for any further significant market support.

QUADDIE

Q

$84 for 100%

Fashion Legend, Swiss Exile, and Count Da Beans head the market in the opening leg of the quaddie.

They look the obvious selections on exposed form, and I expect them to fight out the finish.

Numerian and Desert Icon will battle it out in Ipswich Cup, while Blaze A Trail is our best bet on the program in the Eye Liner Stakes.

Nothing would surprise me in the final event of the day.

Best of luck!
