AFL Best Bets, June 2

Gold Coast vs. Adelaide

Head-To-Head

The Crows will need to overcome a poor away record if punters are to get the cash in this one, but they will take significant confidence out of their last three weeks. And with the game being played at TIO Stadium, neither the Crows nor the Suns will benefit from a home crowd.

After losing two close encounters against the Magpies and Cats, Matthew Nicks’ chargers have since taken down the higher-ranked Saints and Lions. Their Round 10 loss to the Bulldogs was a lesson in team selection, and they won’t be resting Tex Walker again any time soon.

With Rory Laird successful at the tribunal, the Crows will field close to their strongest possible team. No excuses.

Suggested Bet:

Crows to win at $1.92

Port Adelaide vs. Hawthorn

Handicap

No team currently in the AFL is flying quite as high as Port Adelaide.

While Ken Hinkley might be the topic of every coaching conversation in the land, it’s certainly not affecting how he leads the Power as they sit in the second spot on the ladder after eight consecutive victories.

They will likely strengthen their team again with the possible return of Tom Jonas, Todd Marshall, Charlie Dixon and Travis Boak.

Hawthorn has improved over the past fortnight with wins against the out-of-form Saints and West Coast, but the Power at Adelaide Oval will be their biggest test.

Suggested Bet:

Port Adelaide (-37.5) at $1.90

Melbourne vs. Carlton

Totals

This Friday night clash is of the utmost importance to both sides, with the Dees having lost two in a row and the Blues flailing in 13th spot on the back of four straight defeats.

The pressure on Michael Voss and his team is as high as it’s been all year, with Harry McKay’s goal kicking a genuine concern. He combined with Charlie Curnow for 1.6 in last week’s loss to the Swans.

Melbourne has averaged just 74 points over the past two games as they struggle to fire on cylinders without Clayton Oliver.

With injuries on both teams, especially the Blues, expect a scrappy battle that the Dees should win.

Suggested Bet:

-164.5 total points at $1.88

Will Snelling (Essendon)

Anytime Goal

The Bombers’ wingman has made every post a winner since returning to the side in Round 10, kicking a goal from 19 touches in Dreamtime at the ‘G before dobbing two in their 50-point win over West Coast.

It’s a must-win game for Essendon against the embattled Kangaroos, and we’re happy to watch Snelling contribute on the scoreboard at $1.68.

Suggested Bet:

Will Snelling at $1.68

West Coast vs. Collingwood

Same Game Multi

Another week, another tough outing for the West Coast Eagles.

In the ultimate David vs Goliath battle, the rampaging Magpies will take on the 18th-placed and embattled Eagles.

While the loss of Steele Sidebottom is significant for the black and white army, it will do nothing to slow them down as they strengthen their position at the top of the ladder.

  • Collingwood to win
  • Under 172.5
  • J. De Goey 25+ disposals
  • B. Hill 2+ goals

Suggested Bet:

Total odds at $7.50
