NFL Week 7, Tips and Previews

Cardinals vs. Saints

October 21st

New Orleans may have been unable to pip Cincinnati last week, but there are plenty of positive signs that indicate they are nearing their best.

Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram are back to being one of the best running back combinations in the NFL, while Taysum Hill can pop up to produce in many ways. There is a strong chance they have Jameis Winston back as starting Quarterback this week in place of Andy Dalton, which will only boost their chances of getting back on the winner’s list.

They are facing a hot and cold Arizona team that has struggled to match expectations this season.

A lacklustre running game, a questionable defence and frequent unforced errors from Quarterback Kyler Murray has many punters staying away.

The Saints are good value here and should have a strong chance to win.

SUGGESTED BET:

New Orleans +1.5 at $1.90

49ers vs. Chiefs

October 24th

San Francisco has hung in there this year despite a barrage of injuries to key players.

Trey Lance early in the season was followed by a swathe of setbacks for its defensive team, and the 49ers have had to lean on their next tier extensively. The absences looked to have caught up with them last week in a disappointing loss to Atlanta. A disappointing performance from Jimmy Garoppolo at Quarterback has them looking vulnerable, which is never a good thing when facing Kansas City.

The Chiefs fell short against an imposing Buffalo team last week and need more protection from their offensive line to enable Patrick Mahomes to do his thing.

Mahomes has been heavily reliant on Travis Kelce as his primary receiver for a good reason, but with more attention on the Tight End, he will need to spread the ball around a bit more, as has been the case with the Kansas City offence for the past few years.

The Chiefs sit 4-2 and still have a solid chance to be in the mix at the end of the season. Expect them to get things back on track here.

SUGGESTED BET:

Chiefs first team to score at $1.79

Dolphins vs. Steelers

October 24th

Astute punters may be able to take advantage of the uncertain market here, with both teams having concussion issues around their quarterbacks.

Tua Tagovailoa may be in line for a return from his nasty head knock a few weeks back but could also have to wait a while; much-needed return in a less prolific timeslot for PR reasons, much as anything. Not that the Dolphins have many other options, with injuries severely testing their depth.

Kenny Pickett is slowly getting there as a rookie Quarterback but may be sidelined with Mitch Trubisky back in the starting slot. The Steelers’ injury concerns extend to their defensive team, but regardless, the win over the Buccaneers would have given them some much-needed self-belief. That has to be a decisive factor when analysing the form, and there is every chance Pittsburgh could get another win here against a higher-rated team.

SUGGESTED BET:

Steelers win at $3.55

Patriots vs. Bears

October 25th

They don’t do long-suffering in New England. While the Tom Brady days are long gone, it doesn’t seem like the Patriots are in for a long rebuild based on their form this year.

Bailey Zappe has starred in his first season in the NFL, coming off a 329-yard, two-touchdown performance last week. He has the protection of a unified O-line and a defensive team that is not letting anything through.

That combination could be overwhelming for a Chicago team that has only played in bursts this year. Heavy reliance on running backs has meant a lack of continuity for Justin Fields, who can’t find a rhythm and has struggled under pressure. And plenty of that will come from an upbeat New England team this week.

SUGGESTED BET:

Patriots - 3.5 at $1.46
