AFL Round 23, Tips and Previews

Bulldogs vs. Port

August 20th

Port Adelaide get the Dogs at the right time.

After smashing the Blues by 95 points, Port come into this game full of confidence against a Dogs team who has struggled for form in recent weeks.

The Dogs went down to an in-form Hawthorn and face a tough challenge here.

SUGGESTED BET:

Port head to head at $2.10

Tigers vs. Hawks

August 21st

Alastair Clarkson will coach Hawthorn for the final time on Saturday afternoon against Richmond.

The Hawks managed its third win in a row after the announcement of Clarkson stepping down as head coach, while Richmond had its season ended by Greater Western Sydney.

Hawthorn deserves to be favourite in this game given what the Tigers have dished up in recent weeks.

SUGGESTED BET:

Hawks -15.5 at $1.90

Swans vs. Suns

August 21st

Sydney charges towards the finals when it faces a battling Gold Coast Suns outfit on Saturday at Marvel Stadium.

The Swans will have the mental scars of a big loss to the Suns earlier this year, but since then John Longmire has had his men play inspiring footy.

Lance Franklin and Josh Kennedy continue to wind back the back and Luke Parker has been enormous in midfield.

SUGGESTED BET:

Swans -29.5 at $1.90

Lions vs. Eagles

August 21st

It is the last place West Coast wanted to travel for a must win contest when it faces Brisbane at the Gabba.

The Eagles dropped out of the eight after a last quarter surge was not enough to stop an inspired Fremantle in the Western Derby.

The Lions are roaring their way to a home final with Charlie Cameron’s six goal haul helping guide them to an 85-point belting of Collingwood.

Lions all the way in this game.

SUGGESTED BET:

Lions -39.5 at $1.90

Cats vs. Demons

August 21st

Steven May and Tom McDonald will make their returns for Melbourne when they duel with Geelong for top spot on the premiership table.

Geelong will have to find more ways to deal with the omission of Tom Stewart, which leaves a gaping hole in the Geelong backline.

The return of May and McDonald is huge in this contest.

Backing the Demons here who have proven they can do it against Geelong.

SUGGESTED BET:

Demons head to head at $1.94

August 21st

Greater Western Sydney will look to seal a finals berth with victory over Carlton on Sunday.

The Giants picked a part and systematically sliced through the Tigers last week to notch up a 39-point victory.

Carlton, meanwhile, did its coach no favours after being absolutely smashed by Port Adelaide.

SUGGESTED BET:

Giants -20.5 at $1.90

August 22nd

Fremantle is going to embrace this sea change down to Tasmania when it faces St Kilda in what could be a season defining game.

The Dockers produced arguably their best moment of 2021 with an incredible goal being scored by Caleb Serong all but ensuring Fremantle is in the hunt for a finals spot despite the percentage.

St Kilda is playing for nothing but pride and development for its kids heading into next season.

SUGGESTED BET:

Fremantle head to head at $2.22

August 22nd

There will be no love lost between fierce rivals Essendon and Collingwood.

Bombers midfielder Darcy Parish continues to improve on his already break out season, and he is going to be negated if Collingwood are to pull out an unlikely victory

Essendon did knock off Collingwood back on Anzac Day this year and both teams have taken the opposition direction.

Essendon should bank the win, but the Pies can definitely cover the line.

SUGGESTED BET:

Pies +22.5 at $1.91

August 22nd

One of the more intriguing  games are a head space between these two teams.

Both teams sit towards the bottom of the ladder, but it looks as though it’s the Roos who are playing the better brand of footy.

Adelaide, however, has slowed to a crawl in the latter part of this year season, having been well handled by Melbourne

North Melbourne the value in this one.

SUGGESTED BET:

Roos head to head at $2
