AFL Round 22, Tips and Previews

Giants vs. Tigers

August 13th

The Giants will be without Toby Greene for this crucial season defining clash against Richmond.

Greene was suspended for one game after clipping Patrick Dangerfield with an elbow in the upset win over the Cats last week, while Richmond delivered an important win over North Melbourne.

The Tigers scored a memorable victory against the Giants earlier this season when Dustin Martin had 28 disposals to go with four goals.

Going to back the Tigers in here given the importance of Greene to the Giants squad.

SUGGESTED BET:

Tigers -5.5 at $1.90

Hawks vs. Bulldogs

August 14th

Western Bulldogs come off a rare loss when it faces Hawthorn.

The Dogs failed to account for Essendon last week and relinquished top spot, while Alastair Clarkson guided the Hawks to a 19-point victory over Collingwood.

This will Clarkson’s penultimate game as Hawthorn coach and he will have his lads up for the fight down in Tasmania.

SUGGESTED BET:

Hawks +24.5 at $1.90

Cats vs. Saints

August 14th

Patrick Dangerfield is clear to play after being struck by a flailing Toby Greene elbow as Geelong looks to get back into winning ways against St Kilda.

Chris Scott was left a frustrated figure after the shock loss to the Giants last week, but the Saints might prove a tough assignment after they humbled Sydney in Round 21.

The availability of Dangerfield alone makes Geelong a much stronger team and Jeremy Cameron may also return.

Cats win this one.

SUGGESTED BET:

Cats -24.5 at $1.87

Port vs. Blues

August 14th

The pressure continues to mount on Carlton when it faces Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday evening.

The Blues had their season ended by Gold Coast last Saturday in what was a shocking display with finals on the line, while Port hauled itsself over the line against Adelaide in the Showdown.

These are the games that Port Adelaide can really hurt an opposition.

Carlton will be without Harry McKay, Jack Silvagni and Liam Jones and that spells huge trouble.

SUGGESTED BET:

Port -36.5 at $1.90

Lions vs. Pies

August 14th

Brisbane found its mojo last week and look to carry on with winning against Collingwood come Saturday night.

The Lions surged back into top four contention after a resounding 10-goal victory Fremantle thanks to a four-goal display by big man Joe Daniher.

Collingwood seems to have put the proverbial cue in the rack for season 2021 and this should be a comfortable Lions victory.

SUGGESTED BET:

Lions -38.5 at $1.90

August 14th

Sydney looks to rebound into form against North Melbourne this Saturday evening after suffering defeat last week.

The Swans top four hopes were put on hold following a loss to St Kilda, but now must quickly put that result in the rear view mirror and look set to do against a North team who failed to keep up with Richmond.

Ben Noble has his men playing a strong, competitive brand of football, but the wooden spoon bound Roos will be no match for Sydney.

Lance Franklin and Tom Papley could have a field day.

SUGGESTED BET:

Swans -16.5 at $1.89

August 15th

The Demons will be out for revenge when they play Adelaide on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.

Adelaide scored a memorable one-point upset victory over the then undefeated Melbourne, but it has been a horror show of results since and currently sits third last on the table.

Simon Goodwin quite simply has his men humming over a strong win over West Coast last week.

Demons will win this in a canter.

SUGGESTED BET:

Demons -38.5 at $1.90

August 15th

Essendon has destiny in its own hands when it comes up against a defiant Gold Coast on Sunday afternoon.

Ben Rutten guided his men to a momentous two-goal win over Western Bulldogs in Round 21 as Darcy Parish continued his career best season.

The Suns, meanwhile, put the Carlton’s season to bed with a gutsy victory at Marvel Stadium and will prove a tough nut to crack in this game.

SUGGESTED BET:

Suns +21.5 at $1.90

August 15th

A Western Derby with a crowd is what the AFL community deserves and we get that on Sunday evening at Optus Stadium.

The Dockers still have the scars of being on the receiving end of a 59-point thumping by West Coast back in Round 7 this season.

West Coast showed it had returned to some sort of form in the nine-point loss to Melbourne, and with the Dockers being belted by Brisbane last week, we have to side with the Eagles.

SUGGESTED BET:

Eagles -14.5 at $1.90
