Marimenko $3.8

Marimenko is a former Hong Kong galloper who has been acquired by the Michael, John & Wayne Hawkes stable.

He is now a five-year-old gelding and is very lightly raced having only had one career start.

His most recent Flemington jumpout was on the synthetic surface over 800 metres.

Showed plenty of style in that effort and is posied to break his maiden status in this race.

The Difference $4.6

The Difference put in a stinker of a performance last start at Sandown over 1400 metres, but he had excuses.

He raced on a borderline heavy track and, after settling near last, never came on in the straight.

A return to the synthetic surface should a much improved performance despite the rise in grade from BM-70 level to BM-78.

That class step is countered by a drop in weight and he looks to a lovely suck run in the behind the leaders.

Ancient Girl $16/$4.2

Clint McDonald unveils one of the new galloper’s his stable has purchased in the form of Ancient Girl.

McDonald made it a project of his to by a new set of juvenile horses and he turns this three-year-old filly out on the track after solid enough jumpouts.

She is a filly by sire Turn Me Loose who was a Group 1 winner back in his racing career over the mile.

This filly is clearly bred to get further than the 1200-metre event she faces today, but she showed enough at her trials and jumpouts to suggest she can run a bolter on debut.
