Best Bet - Race 1

Potato Pete $3.4

Matt Laurie has a knack at pinching these maiden synthetic races and he gives himself another great opportunity to do so with Potato Pete.

The three-year-old colt by Vancouver had a solid 950-metre trial at Traralgon to run second behind the smart Hydro Star.

Ethan Brown takes the ride and has the job of negating barrier five which should prove no issues.

The obvious danger in the race is the odds-on favourite Testa Rock who ran well on debut but she does drawn an outside barrier here and our selection must just have the drop on her late.

Next Best - Race 7

14

The Siscos Kid $2.9

The eyes were drawn straight to The Siscos Kid in the form guide and praying he gets a run as he is the second emergency in the field.

Most notably what caught the attention was the jockey change.

Lucinda Boyd hops off the horse and John ‘Horse’ Allen saddles up this four-year-old gelding by Danrich.

The Henry Dwyer-trained galloper seems to have taken a liking for racing on the synthetic surface after finishing runner-up behind Avenue of Pleasure only a fortnight ago.

The step up to 1400 metres will see him bound towards the lead and hopefully Allen can pinch a bit of a break at the top of the straight to see off his challengers.

Best Roughie - Race 5

2

Taramansour $12/$2.90

The betting drift told the story with Irish import Taramansour when making his Australian on July 1.

He raced very one paced behind the smart Hosier after settling midfield and whacking away for a fifth-place finish.

Matthew Cumani has not wasted anytime cranking him up in distance to 2100 metres which is where this horse was most effective in Ireland.

Good each-way odds and he is the speculative bet for the day.
