AFL Round 12, Tips and Previews

Demons v Lions

June 4th

The Demons will be filthy the game has been moved but have done well to make sure it didn’t end up in Brisbane.

Melbourne have shown they are the real deal by beating fellow contenders, their win over the Western Bulldogs was superb and showed that their team defence is just about impossible to beat when it is on.

The Lions have been clicking of late and are looking close to their best after a slowish start to the season. They attacked the Giants with a ruthlessness that will bode well for this one because you can’t be wasteful against the Dees.

I think Melbourne’s defence will be able to lock the Lions out here and they will get the win.

SUGGESTED BET:

Melbourne Win @ $1.64

Saints v Swans

June 5th

This game being moved to the SCG has done little to change the result in my mind. The Swans were home anyway but that fact has been driven home.

Sydney were too good for Carlton last week and have steadied the ship after a rocky patch that saw them drop back the pack a bit. They know sit 8-4 and are a genuine top four contender.

St Kilda are having a nightmare season and a lot of it has been done to their horrible goalkicking. Key forward Max King has been a major culprit going at 33% in front of goal and it is costing them games.

They also have the ability to just not show up and get obliterated so I can’t trust them with my money at all.

SUGGESTED BET:

Sydney @ $1.71

Crows v Magpies

June 5th

Collingwood have seemingly gone back to basics and are more competitive for it but it hasn’t registered them another win. Their game against Geelong was awful but that went for both teams.

The Crows have been good and their win over Melbourne was superb and may be the impetus they need. They looked like they were starting to drop off as the season dragged on but that win could help keep the belief alive.

Adelaide Oval is the key advantage here for the Crows who could get on top of the fragile Pies and take this one away from them very quickly. I expect the Crows midfield to get on top and dominate.

SUGGESTED BET:

Adelaide Win @ $1.78

Storm v Titan

June 5th

Melbourne Storm and the Gold Coast Titans on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday night as the Storm continue to play away from Victoria.

The Melbourne Storm are another side who are typically impacted during the State of Origin period, but their incredible depth means that they still have a host of stars available for selection.

They have also been doing this for years now and Craig Bellamy knows how to deal wit the mass exodus that comes every season. The Bromwichs are in, so is Nicho Hynes and they haven’t lost the experience of Jahrome Hughes in the halves.

The Storm are rarely affected too much in this time and they don’t look to be too impacted now such is the depth of their talent.

The Titans look miles out of their depth here and it would be something special if they were to grind out a win somehow. They just don’t have the cattle to compete even with a depleted Storm squad.

SUGGESTED BET:

Storm -24.5 @ $1.89

Knights v Eels

June 6th

It’s probably the most intriguing match of the round, but the Eels are still clear favourites. On the other hand, the Knights have been just plain awful in 2021.

They have been disappointing in 2021 after it seemed like they were ready to go for it all in the pre-season. Instead they have floundered away and are nowhere near the team we all expected.

They’ve suffered a few key injuries and have been unable to cover for them at all. They look a long way off finals and it’s almost impossible to trust them with my money.

They did return one of their better performances of the season to halt the high-flying Sea Eagles last week but that looked more like the anomaly as opposed to the new standard. I don’t see them backing that up again.

Parramatta will be without a couple of key players due to Origin, but they still look too good here for the Knights. I expect Parramatta to bounce back and put right some of the wrongs from last week.

SUGGESTED BET:

Parramatta Win @ $1.48
