Bucks v Heat
May 22nd
A hard one to tip first-up. The Bucks will surely have retribution on their mind after the Heat dumped them from last year’s playoffs. There’s no way Giannis has forgotten that.
The Heat have been up and down this season but proved last season that they can perform when the whips are cracking. Jimmy Butler is the key for the Heat and how he goes will largely determine how Miami will go.
I see Giannis wanting to make a statement early and set the tone from the get-go. If they let the Heat get a win early in the series it could be the impetus they need to go on.
The Bucks will learn from last season and start the road to revenge in game 1.

Clippers v Mavericks

Can’t stress enough how little trust I have in the Clippers. They did nothing in the last post-season to make me think that they have the bottle to make a playoff run.
Playoff Paul is more myth than reality. Whereas Luka Doncic is a beast who is looking to carry his franchise to a deep playoff run.
The market is probably rightfully in the favour of the Clippers but they don’t have my trust. I’m backing my boy Luka all the way in this series.

Nets v Celtics
May 22nd
A cracking first round series that will see a young Celtics team tested. The Nets are built for playoffs and are one of the favourites to claim the ring at the end of it all.
Kevin Durant will be desperate to add another ring to his hand and James Harden will be even more desperate for his first. They have a lot of expectations on them but they are an experienced playoff unit.
Can’t see them slipping up early if at all in this series. They’ll make a statement.

Nuggets v Trail Blazers
May 22nd
The Nuggets have done so well to earn such a high seed given they lost Jamal Murray during the season. Nikola Jokic has stepped up big time and is dominating teams on both ends of the floor.
The big man is crucial to the Nuggets hopes in the postseason. They need to get through this series well to install belief.
Portland will as always be relying on some Dame magic and he is capable of carrying them here but game 1 has Denver written all over it. I’m playing the joker card in this one and backing in the Nugs.

Suns v Lakers
May 23rd
The Lakers got in the playoffs via the play-in tournament and now they are a real threat. Their season was broken up by injuries to Lebron and AD who are now ready to defend their titles.
Phoenix have been superb all season but this is a different beast. The Lakers in the playoffs is unlike anything they have seen all season.
Lebron makes NBA finals, that’s just what he does. The King has more than earned the trust needed to put my money down. He will lead the Lakers past the Suns and it’ll start in Game 1.
