Pereira vs. Hill
April 14th
There could not be more excitement or anticipation in the Ultimate Fighting Championship universe ahead of a star-studded card for UFC 300.
With more current and former champions assembled on one program than ever before, the night will be capped off with the light heavyweight title bout between current champion and market favourite Alex Pereira ($1.66) and his predecessor, Jamahal Hill ($2.21).
The Brazilian titleholder enters the bout as the favourite after claiming the vacant title left by Hill when he defeated Jiri Prochazka by second-round stoppage at UFC 295. It was Pereira’s second belt in two separate divisions in two years, but there’s no doubt he’ll want to put any doubt to bed by officially taking Hill down.
Despite coming in as the underdog, Hill has plenty of support in his bid to reclaim the throne. It was only through a torn Achilles tendon in July, and not via a loss in competition that he was forced to hand over the belt, with the American boasting a 6-1 record in the Octagon.
While Hill has shown plenty of one-shot KO power in his previous fights, the idea of returning from a serious Achilles injury makes the $2.21 quote seem unders. Periera is fit, healthy and in form, and with his superior cardio and kicking ability, we’re more than happy to take $1.66 to find out.
Suggested Bet:
Pereira to win at $1.66
Zhang vs. Xiaonan
April 14th
While the market is firmly in Zhang’s ($1.19) corner for this mouthwatering strawweight title fight, don’t underestimate the gravity of the first-ever all-Chinese championship fight and what that pressure could do to level out the contest.
Zhang is clearly the one to beat, having earned the first successful defense of her title with a unanimous decision win over Amanda Lemos at UFC 292. She’s 8-2 inside the Octagon and her power and wrestling are unrivalled at this level.
As for Yan, she has very little to lose coming in as a $4.70 outsider. Her speed and kicks will unsettle the champion at times, and that could almost be enough to cause an upset.
While we’re unwilling to back Yan in the head-to-head markets, don’t be surprised if this Chinese war goes further than the one-sided quote suggests.
A two-leg multi of Pereira into Zhang will get you $1.97 with Bet Deluxe.
