Best Bet - Ballarat Race 9

Saint George $4.60

Saint George is ready to win!

Both performances this preparation have been first-class, and I suspect he has been trained to the minute for his third-up assignment.

The Roaring Lion gelding finds a suitable distance, and he has been well supported in most all-in markets.

The Craig Williams and Ciaron Maher combination must be respected, and the current track conditions suit to a tee.

The carpark draw is the primary concern.

Kingswood was an impressive last-start winner at Flemington.

He repelled the challenge of Saint George, and the big boy survived a challenge in the stewards room.

The consistent six-year-old is a 2000m specialist, and I suspect he strips fitter as a result of recent racing.

The grandstand weight is the primary concern.

Party Crasher $4.00

Party Crasher has one hoof on the till.

The Ocean Park gelding was a brilliant last start winner at Flemington, and he meets the usual suspects on Saturday.

The consistent four-year-old remains undefeated at the trip, and I suspect he has further improvement to come for the current campaign.

The money trail tells a significant story, and the Michael Hickmott camp are flying at present.

Easily the one to beat!

Howlin’ Rain is over the odds.

The Fiorente gelding is running extremely well at present, and he finds a winnable assignment here.

The form around him speaks volumes, and the 2kg apprentice claim puts him into all winning conversations.

He loves the 2000m journey, and he is drawn to perfection wearing the red rug.

A major player at a decent price!

Best Roughie - Ballarat Race 6

Golden Spritz $13.00/$4.00

Golden Spritz can run a big race at the cricket-score odds.

The Snitzel gelding has never missed a podium, and he looks well placed in this company.

The enigmatic four-year-old has form around some serious gallopers, and his opening quote has been nibbled at since acceptances were finalised.

The wide alley and his record at the trip are among the primary concerns.

Royal Flare was an impressive winner on debut.

The Zoustar gelding put his rivals to the sword a long way from home, and he deserves his spot in this line-up.

There is a serious boom around the talented four-year-old, and a “times and margins job” wouldn’t surprise his supporters.

There has been a tsunami of money for the lightly raced commodity, and with even luck in-transit, he can continue on his winning way.

Take on trust!

QUADDIE

Q

$80 for 100%

Carbonados looks a moral in the opening leg.

His recent form is superior, and he ideally weighted for his second-up assignment.

Party Crasher looks extremely hard to beat in race eight, while several of his key rivals gain a gurnsey for quaddie insurance purposes.

Our best bet Saint George may determine our hopes and dreams in the Ballarat Cup, while it’s a field leg in the lucky last.
