Via Sistina $2.30

Via Sistina is ready to defend her title on Saturday.

The Fastnet Rock mare is racing better than it reads in the bible, and her victory in this event last year is still fresh in the memory bank.

Her fresh performance in Winx Stakes was first-class, and she was a victim of circumstances in the Makybe Diva Stakes.

The effort behind Sir Delius and Antino at her latest outing was well noticed, and I expect her to peak and explode when it matters the most.

The Chris Waller and James McDonald combination must be respected, and the queen will start a deserved favourite.

In Via we trust!

Antino is poised to spring an upset.

The Redwood gelding is racing in great spirit, and I suspect his next victory is just around the corner.

His performances over the last twelve-months have been world-class, and the form around him has stood up time and again.

The 2000m is ideal at this stage of his preparation, and he has been well supported in most al-in markets.

If daring tactics are employed in transit, he may end the race as they run past the school for the last time.

Observer $2.00

Observer was luckless in a messy edition of the time-honoured Group 1 Caulfield Guineas.

The Ghaiyyath colt was held up badly inside the final furlong, and the big boy snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

His exposed form prior was rock-solid, and the step out in trip on Saturday looks ideal.

The Mark Zahra factor must be respected, and I suspect the camp are out for redemption.

There has been a Tsunami of money since acceptances, and I expect him to jump in the red.

Hard to toss!

Crown Of Russia is over the odds.

The Russian Camelot colt is racing well without threatening, and I suspect he is ready to peak over the longer trip.

The inform Craig Williams sticks, and the form around him has stood up time and again.

His versatility alone puts him into all winning conversations, and the perfect inside draw gives him every chance to upset his more fancied opponents.

Acid test!

Jennilala $12.00/$3.00

Jennilala is ready to win third-up from a spell at a price.

The Shalaa mare has been racing well without scoring, and the step out in trip is advantageous.

Meeting her own sex plays into her favour, and I suspect she has been trained to the minute for this assignment.

The middle gate provides the big girl plenty of options, and Blake Shinn retains the ride.

The grandstand weight and her recent winning record are among the primary concerns.

She’s Unusual will have plenty of supporters after producing an impressive last-start victory at Rosehill.

The form around Travolta reads incredibly well for this event, and the Unusual Suspect mare has the ability to reel off sizzling late sectionals.

The 54kg is a gift, and her opening quote disappeared quicker than last week’s pay.

The awkward gate is the primary concern.

QUADDIE

Q

$90 for 200%

A handful of runners fly the quaddie flag in a very open and competitive edition of the Crystal Mile.

There has been several runners well supported, and I suspect the money will continue to come for the short-priced commodities at the top of the market.

Charm Stone, Niance, and Vestas, will battle it out in the Mcewen Stakes, while the unlucky Observer has one hoof on the till in the Vase.

Via Sistina to win the last edition of the Cox Plate in it’s current format, while Antino and Nepotism gain gurnseys for insurance purposes.

Best of luck!
