Angel Capital $3.60

How good was Angel Capital fresh at Moonee Valley!

The Harry Angel entire motored over the sprint trip fresh, and the fat lady was in full voice a long way from home.

The big boy oozes class and is simply a Group 1 winner in waiting.

The handicap conditions suit to a tee, and he finds his favourite track and distance on Saturday.

There has been an avalanche of money since acceptances, and I expect his quote to continue to shorten until the barriers open.

The horror draw is his biggest obstacle.

Another Wil will improve second-up after producing a plain performance in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes on resumption.

The Street Boss gelding didn’t show his customary turn of foot, and I suspect he will be ready to repay his loyal followers on Saturday.

His second-up record is outrageous, and he loves the seven furlongs at Caulfield more than Mr Brightside.

The middle draw is ideal, and I expect him to play a prominent role in the finish if he is presented with his run at the right time.

Acid test!

Buckaroo $4.50

Buckaroo was a revelation last spring.

The Fastnet Rock gelding tasted Group 1 success in this event, and he had genuine excuses in our two biggest cups.

His autumn form was below par, however, he signalled a return to form, fresh catching the eyes of punters late behind a smart one.

His second-up record must be respected, and the 1800m is ideal at this stage of his campaign.

The combination of Blake Shinn and Chris Waller will attract further market support, and I expect the big boy to prove too strong late if he can find cover from the awkward gate.

Hard to toss.

Sir Delius will start favourite after producing a slashing run first-up in the Chelmsford Stakes.

The Frankel entire has hardly put a foot wrong since arriving in Australia, and his French form prior reads incredibly well for this event.

There has been a flood of money for the Gai Waterhouse-trained galloper, and the key appointment of Craig Williams should raise eyebrows.

I’d prefer to support his case over further and deeper into his preparation.

Best Roughie - Caulfield Race 2

Hazel Baby $26.00/$7.00

Hazel Baby can run a race at cricket-score odds.

The opening price was inflated, and I suspect she is ready to peak after a solid effort at her latest outing.

The Toronado mare should be rock-hard fit after lengthy campaign, and I expect her quote to continue to shorten before the barriers open.

Her consistency and versatility put her into all winning calculations, and the Ciaron Maher polish must be respected.

Over the odds!

Shadhavar will have supporters after savaging the line at Caulfield.

The Pride Of Dubai mare is edging closer to her next victory, and she finds a very winnable assignment here.

Barrier three is advantageous; I suspect the seven-furlong trip is her pet distance.

She tends to find one or two better at the pointy end of the contest.

QUADDIE

Q

$125 for 50%

Buckaroo and Sir Delius will battle it out in a skinny edition of the Underwood Stakes.

Both made eye-catching returns to racing, and I suspect they will be cherry ripe for Saturday’s Group 1 event.

Angel Capital has one hoof on the till in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, while several gallopers gain a gurnsey for quaddie insurance purposes.

We have a handful of selections flying the flag in the Naturalism Stakes, while we have gone wide in the last event on the card.

Best of luck!
