Philia $4.20

Philia was a dominant winner of the Group 2 Roses at Doomben.

The All Too Hard mare has recorded four victories on the bounce, and with even luck in transit on Saturday, she can continue on her winning ways.

The progressive three-year-old faces similar opposition, and after a lengthy and fruitful campaign, I suspect she has the fitness edge on most of her rivals.

The 2200m looks ideal at this stage of her preparation, and consistent Kerrin McEvoy has already established a winning relationship with the David Vandyke galloper.

Jumping from the bleachers is the primary concern.

Benagil is coming off a forgive run at Doomben.

Her form prior was rock-solid, and I suspect it may pay dividends to forget she went around at her latest outing.

The longer trip plays into her favour, and she is ideally drawn in a middle gate.

Watch for her late!

Joliestar $3.00

Joliestar will start as the race favourite after a successful campaign to date.

The Zoustar mare was brilliant in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington, and her form during the Championships in Sydney was first-class.

Her effort behind the flying Jimmysstar reads incredibly well for this event, and I suspect this Group 1 feature has been a long-range target from the astute camp.

Jumping from a different suburb is her biggest obstacle.

Kimochi can run a drum at a decent price.

The Brave Smash mare is racing better than it suggests in the bible, and she looks well placed in this company.

Craig Williams’s key appointment speaks volumes, and barrier three brings her into all winning conversations.

A recent barrier trial at Warwick farm looked ominous, and she has been well supported in most all-in markets.

Over the odds.

Deep Focus $19.00/$5.00

Deep Focus looks poised to strike.

The Deep Field colt is a model of consistency, and I suspect his next victory is just around the corner.

The big boy has savaged the line all preparation, and the step out to 2400m is ideal at this stage of his campaign.

The inform Michael Rodd takes the mount, and there has been healthy support for the talented three-year-old at the cricket-score odds.

Barrier eighteen is the biggest deterrent.

Statuario looks hard to toss.

The D’argento gelding is one classy customer, and his current form is hard to fault.

He excels beyond 2000m and is drawn to perfection on Saturday.

The SA Derby placegetter strips fitter after a lengthy and fruitful campaign, and he meets similar opposition here.

With even luck throughout, I expect him to play a major role in the finish.

$90 for 100%

A handful of selections will fly the quaddie flag in the Kingsford Smith Cup.

It’s a competitive edition of the time-honoured Group 1, and nothing would surprise here.

Philia has one hoof on the till in the Queensland Oaks, while several runners may decide our fate in the penultimate event.

Infancy, Bubba’s Bay, and Kin will all be prominent in the lucky last!
