Best Bet - Flemington Race 8

Munhamek $5.00

Munhamek is flying!

The forever young Dark Angel gelding is chasing a hatrick of victories, and he traditionally grows an extra leg when he races at headquarters.

His win two starts back in the Swan Hill Cup was first-class, and I suspect this is his major assignment for the campaign.

The big boy will drift back and watch the race unfold. If he can sprint while carrying the grandstand, I expect him to fight out the finish.

King Magnus is too consistent to pot.

The Magnus gelding is ready to peak; his latest performance was ominous.

His best form reads incredibly well for this event, and the rising nine-year-old is a Flemington specialist.

His recent winning record is the biggest deterrent.

Who Dares $8.00

Who Dares will lead his rivals a merry dance.

The Deep Field gelding has a career best preparation and excels at the track and distance.

The precocious four-year-old should be rock-hard fit at this campaign stage, and I suspect this will be his last outing before heading to the paddock for a well-deserved holiday.

A solid performance here may provide some lofty spring options.

It’sourtime finds a winnable assignment here.

The Time For War gelding is a straight-six specialist, and his best performance could be fences and panels better than his rivals.

His race-day manners and the allocated weight are among the primary concerns.

Eagle Warrior $35.00/$6.50

Eagle Warrior is over the odds.

The Alpine Eagle gelding has been good without winning this campaign, and I suspect he is ready to peak third-up from a spell.

The step out to 2500m is advantageous, and I am confident he will save every inch of turf throughout from the perfect inside draw.

The significant class rise is the biggest deterrent.

Steel Run will start favourite after producing an impressive debut campaign to date.

The Real Steel gelding was luckless at his latest outing, and he looks well-placed to bounce back on Saturday.

From barrier four I suspect he will occupy the box seat in-transit, and if the promising three-year-old sees daylight as they run for the doctor, he will make his presence felt late.

He may need some luck getting off the dulex.
