Shangri La Express $3.00

Shangri La Express has made a faultless start to his racing career.

The undefeated Alabama Express colt has been dominant in both career starts, and the form around him has stood up time and again.

The enigmatic two-year-old has trialled extremely well leading into his first-up assignment, and I suspect he will pilot the field from an inside draw.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained galloper will look the winner on straightening, and I expect his class and pedigree to get him across the line.

Switzerland has been smashed since markets opened.

The blueblood Snitzel colt was impressive on debut, and the step out to 1100m looks ideal at this stage of his preparation.

From the middle gate, he should get the perfect cart into the race, and I suspect he will be savaging the line late.

This is his acid test.

Fangirl $2.20

If Fangirl finds herself on top of the ground on Saturday, she will be incredibly hard to beat.

Her record at the track and distance speaks volumes, and she usually goes faster than last week’s pay when fresh.

She is arguably coming off a career-defining preparation and is now regarded as one of Australia’s best weight-for-age performers.

The predicted heavy track conditions could spoil the Fangirl party.

Think It Over is a marvel.

The So You Think gelding doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and his first-up record must be respected.

The rising nine-year-old might need further first-up at this stage of his career, and I would prefer to see his return before investing.

If the track is in the heavy range, I suspect his quote will shorten significantly.

Danish Fortune $23.00/$4.40

Danish Fortune is over the odds!

The Magnus gelding is ultra-consistent, and he was good without winning last-start at Caulfield.

From barrier two, he can camp on the leader’s back, and if he sees daylight before the final furlong, he can figure in the finish.

The sharp rise in class is the primary concern.

Whinchat will start favourite after an impressive first-up victory.

The Russian Revolution gelding led his rivals a merry dance fresh, and I suspect he can springboard off the dominant performance.

If he can run out a strong 1300m, he will prove hard to run down.

An early-speed battle could be his undoing.

$99 for 20%

Think It Over, Fangirl, and Militarize can battle it out in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes.

They all perform well fresh, and their spring campaigns were first-class.

Kimochi, Tiz Invincible, and Learning To Fly will be prominent in Light Fingers Stakes, while Logan Street Lion, Estadio Mestalla, Battleton, Redstone Well, and Louisville will lock horns during the final furlong of the penultimate event.

It’s a field job in the lucky last!
