AFL Best Bets, July 21

GWS vs. Gold Coast

Head-To-Head

There’s no other way of putting it; the Giants are on fire.

With five consecutive victories, Adam Kingsley’s men have launched into ninth spot on the ladder on the same number of points (36) as St Kilda, Western Bulldogs and Essendon.

Their win in Adelaide over the weekend showcased a maturity we’ve not seen since 2019, coming from 17 points down with five unanswered goals in the final quarter.

With Toby Greene, Josh Kelly, Stephen Coniglio and Sam Taylor in potential All-Australian consideration, they possess the star power to make it six in a row against a revitalised Suns side.

Suggested Bet:

GWS to win at $1.51

Carlton vs. West Coast

Handicap

What is going on at Carlton? After losing six consecutive matches from Rounds 8-13, they’ve since turned their season around with four on the bounce by 50 or more points.

Yes, you read that correctly. They even dismantled Port Adelaide by 50 over the weekend.

While Harry McKay has suffered a knee injury that will sideline him for weeks, Charlie Curnow, Jesse Motlop, and Jack Silvagni are kicking goals while their midfield is back to their best.

Expect a percentage booster against the Eagles.

Suggested Bet:

Carlton (-65.5) at $1.90

Jack Steele (St Kilda)

25+ disposals

Few players are capable of stepping up for their team when required, but Jack Steele is one of them.

Despite his team’s poor form, the Saints’ skipper has fought hard over recent weeks, with 31 disposals against Melbourne and 21+ in his past six.

He managed 20, nine clearances and seven tackles against the Roos earlier in the season, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and we’d expect he accumulates plenty more as the Saints search for their second win in six weeks.

Suggested Bet:

Jack Steele at $1.70

Melbourne vs. Adelaide

Same Game Multi

Melbourne was back to their premiership-winning best in the final term against Brisbane, and we’re expecting them to carry over that form against an Adelaide outfit that can’t win at the ‘G.

After struggling to score over the past month, the Dees nailed 16 goals en route to 105 points, with Christian Petracca driving home four from his 26 disposals.

The Crows’ finals aspirations took an enormous gut punch when they lost to the Giants at home, and believe us when we say it doesn’t get any easier against a Dees unit at the home of football.

  • Leg 1: Melbourne to win
  • Leg 2: Over 167.5 points
  • Leg 3: J. Dawson 25+ disposals
  • Leg 4: C. Petracca 2+ goals

Suggested Bet:

Total odds at $6.50
