AFL Best Bets, June 29

Essendon vs. Port Adelaide

Head-To-Head

We simply can’t go past the form side of the AFL as they look to make it 12 straight wins. Port Adelaide has dominated since stepping out against Sydney in Round 4, and there’s no reason we shouldn’t expect another dose this weekend.

Zak Butters and Connor Rozee continue to star through the midfield alongside an improving Ollie Wines. At the same time, Junior Rioli will return to their imposing forward 50 and flank Charlie Dixon, Jeremy Finlayson, and Todd Marshall.

Essendon will be without Sam Draper again this weekend, giving Scott Lycett another chance to dominate in the ruck.

$1.50 is short enough but still considered overs.

Suggested Bet:

Port Adelaide to win at $1.50

Adelaide vs. North Melbourne

Handicap

Few things this season are as intimidating as the Adelaide Crows at the Adelaide Oval. Well, lately at least.

While they lost two tight encounters earlier in the season to Richmond and Collingwood, they’ve found another gear over the past month and a half with home wins against the Saints and Lions and a 122-point demolition of the Eagles.

After going down to the Pies by two points over the weekend, we expect Matthew Nicks, Jordan Dawson, Rory Laird, and Tex Walker to lead an all-out assault on the Roos.

Suggested Bet:

Adelaide (-41.5) at $1.90

Darcy Macpherson (Gold Coast)

25+ disposals

The talented wingman has thrived in his second season of AFL, averaging 22 disposals and kicking nine goals as a shining light of Brad Scott’s unit.

More importantly, his last month has been phenomenal, with possession totals of 26, 31, 21 and 30.

This gives us a whole heap of confidence going into a game against the out-of-form Dockers, and we’re more than happy to take the $2.40 on offer while Zach Merrett and Darcy Parish take the short quotes.

Suggested Bet:

Darcy Macpherson at $2.40

West Coast vs. St Kilda

Same Game Multi

After three losses from their past four games, the Saints are due for an easy beat and things don’t get any easier than the West Coast Eagles.

Adam Simpson’s side suffered their fourth 100+ point loss of the season last week, giving up 31 goals and going down to the Swans by 171 points. It was exactly as bad as it sounds.

This should be a very one-sided affair yet again, but expect more effort from the Eagles’ veterans after they received a Simpson spray throughout the week.

  • St Kilda to win by 40+
  • J. Sinclair 30+ disposals
  • J. Higgins 2+ goals
  • J. Darling score anytime (first half)

Suggested Bet:

Total odds at $6.00
