NRL Best Bets, June 16

North Queensland vs. Penrith Panthers

Head-To-Head

With Origin II affecting almost every game this week, it still feels like the Panthers are over the odds at $1.65.

They lose Jarome Luai, Stephen Crichton, Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo and Brian To’o. Still, it’s safe to say the Cowboys are equally decimated, with Reuben Cotter, Reece Robson, Valentine Holmes, Murray Taulagi and Jeremiah Nanai also on Origin duties.

The Panthers have been dominating with five straight victories, and we’re happy to take that price to see them end the Cowboys’ run at home.

Suggested Bet:

Penrith Panthers to win at $1.65

Parramatta Eels vs. Manly Sea Eagles

Handicap

Once again, a difficult game to assess given the impact of State of Origin selection on both sides.

What we know is that Mitch Moses and Junior Paulo have been selected from the Eels, while Daly Cherry-Evans and Tom Trbojevic will miss for the Sea Eagles.

Despite the Eels’ current run of three consecutive victories, it’s hard to dismiss the value presented by the Sea Eagles after they ran riot with 10 tries and defeated the Dolphins by 40 points in Round 15.

Both sides are playing for a spot in the top eight, so don’t expect a blowout either way it goes.

Suggested Bet:

Manly (+4.5) at $1.88

Newcastle Knights vs. Sydney Roosters

Totals

Sitting in 13th and 12th position on the ladder, the Knights and Roosters are ranked in the bottom four for scoring this season.

It’s been a tough slog offensively for both teams, and it only gets tougher with the Knights missing Tyson Frizell and Greg Marzhew while the Roosters lose James Tedesco and Lindsay Collins.

Sydney has managed six points or less in three of their past five games, giving us no confidence in their scoring ability.

Suggested Bet:

Under (-45.5) at $1.91

Nick Meaney (Storm)

Anytime Scorer

It will be a wildly different-looking Melbourne Storm side to the one that dismantled the Sharks last weekend, with Cam Munster, Harry Grant and Xavier Coates all on Origin duty.

Skipper Christian Welch will also need to be replaced following his suspension, leaving it up to Nick Meaney and Will Warbrick to do the damage on the scoreboard.

Having crossed for eight tries from his 12 starts this season, Nick Meaney looks incredibly juicy at $2.25.

Suggested Bet:

N. Meaney anytime try scorer at $2.25

Cronulla Sharks vs. Canterbury Bulldogs

Same Game Multi

Following last week’s debacle against the Storm, whereby they lost by 44 points, expect the Sharks to hit back in a big way against the Bulldogs.

Nicho Hynes will lead from the front after missing Origin selection, while their try-scoring stars, Kennedy and Mulitalo, should run riot against the Bulldogs defence.
  • Leg 1: Sharks to win
  • Leg 2: Over 44.5 points
  • Leg 3: R. Mulitalo 2+ tries
  • Leg 4: W. Kennedy score anytime
  • Total: $9

Suggested Bet:

Same Game Multi
