Best Bet - Sandown Race 5

Ranveer $2.30

Ranveer is ready to win!

The Winning Rupert gelding was narrowly beaten at Mornington first-up, and he can go one better on Wednesday with a run under his belt.

He is a previous winner at the track and will appreciate the softer track conditions.

From the inside barrier, Ben Melham can box seat with the big boy, and if he sees daylight on straightening, I expect him to prove too strong over the concluding stages.

He is better than his current rating suggests and looks like the best bet on a competitive racing program.

Sqaud will attract market support after a consistent campaign.

The Shalaa gelding has been rising through his grades successfully in the last couple of months, and he deserves his shot at this level.

He will roll forward from a middle gate, and if he can find the lead during the early stages, he may prove hard to run down.

This is his biggest test to date.

Next Best - Sandown Race 4

Clock Strike $8.00

Clock Strikes can bounce back after a rare last-start flop.

The significant class drop is advantageous, and he looks poised to strike, jumping from an inside barrier.

The Zoustar gelding will fly over his pet distance, and I expect him to add to his already impressive career record.

The Craig Newitt and Robbie Griffiths combination must be resected.

River Ribble will start favourite after a recent string of minor placings.

The Ribchester gelding has raced gamely at Flemington and Morphettville this campaign, and he meets easier opposition here.

He should be rock-hard fit for this stage of preparation, and I expect him to figure in the finish.

I am concerned this race could be an afterthought.

Best Roughie - Sandown Race 3

2

Black Ivory $9.50

Black Ivory looks ready to explode.

The Redoute’s Choice mare was excellent at her latest outing against easier opposition, and I expect her to go to another level here.

From a middle gate, she can sit midfield with cover, and if she is presented with her run at the right time, her turn of foot may prove too strong late.

The 3kg apprentice claim is advantageous, and there has been a flood of money for her in early betting.

Lady Court will start favourite for the Peter Moody camp.

She has shown glimpses of her best form this preparation but hasn’t put a complete performance together this campaign.

The wet track is a positive, and the addition of Luke ‘Black Caviar’ Nolen will entice punters further.

Her best form reads well for this event, and she is ready to peak.

Her winning record is the biggest concern.

QUADDIE

Q

$64 for 100%

Our best bet Ranveer will make or break our quaddie in the opening leg.

He ticks all the boxes and will start a deserved short-priced favourite.

Saint Eustace, Jaykayan, The Claimant, and Figo The Great fly the flag for us in the second leg, while it’s a throw at the stumps in the third.

Gundy Bridge can finish the day on a winning note for punters in the lucky last.

Best of luck!
