NRL Tips and Previews, April 15-16

NZ Warriors vs. North Queensland

April 15th

The Warriors will be looking to bounce back from just their second loss of the season after falling to the Knights by 10 points. They have been starting games poorly and once again gave up 22 points in the first half, but managed to work their way back into the match with three tries in the final 40.

Te Maire Martin (leg) and Wayde Egan (head knock) are big outs for the Warriors, but captain Tohu Harris has been named to return.

Jeremiah Nanai and Murray Taulagi will come in for the Cowboys as they try to lift themselves off 15th spot on the ladder.

Suggested Bet:

M. Taulagi anytime try scorer at $2.12

Newcastle vs. Penrith

April 15th

The Panthers are back, and they’re back in a huge way.

After starting the season 1-2 with close losses to the Broncos and Eels, the Panthers have ignited with consecutive wins by a total of 73 points. Dylan Edwards was unstoppable during their latest outing against the Sea Eagles, notching a first-half treble and finishing the game with four tries.

The Knights have quietly worked their way into the eighth spot on the ladder after defeating the Warriors 34-24 last weekend. Jayden Brailey’s season is over following an ACL injury, with Phoenix Crossland starting at hooker and Tyson Gamble in the No. 6 jersey.

Suggested Bet:

Penrith 13+ at $1.67

Gold Coast vs. Brisbane

April 15th

The Titans are faced with one of the most challenging tasks in football this weekend as they take on a Broncos unit coming off their first loss of the season. And they certainly don’t have the support of the market as the Broncos enter as $1.35 favourites.

Toby Sexton fractured his wrist in last week’s win over the Dragons, but Kieran Foran will return from a calf injury, and Thomas Mikaele will make his club debut.

The Broncos just couldn’t get going in their home game against the Raiders, with just 1/3 conversions the difference on the scoreboard. Kevin Walters will start Corey Jensen in the front row following Thomas Flegler’s HIA failure, but the Broncos shouldn’t have too many issues bouncing back.

Suggested Bet:

Brisbane to win at $1.35

St George vs. Canberra

April 16th

Can the Raiders make it two in a row?

Ricky Stuart and his men will be brimming with confidence following last week’s victory over the Broncos. Jordan Rapana put on a clinic with two tries in the first half and led the Raiders to just their second win of the season. Jack Wighton and Joseph Tapine are two important inclusions this week.

The Dragons are also searching for win #3 following a tight two-point loss to the Titans. Zane Musgrove comes in at prop in a swap for Francis Molo (suspension), but it might not be enough against a Raiders outfit with their tails up.

Suggested Bet:

Canberra to win at $1.49

Parramatta vs. Canterbury

April 16th

In the final match of Round Seven, the Parramatta Eels will host the Canterbury Bulldogs at CommBank Stadium.

The Eels will enter as short-priced $1.39 favourites following their six-point win over the Wests. Junior Paulo returns from suspension to bolster the Parramatta pack, but that will be the only significant change for Brad Arthur’s side.

The Bulldogs, who were torched by the Rabbitohs 16-50, will be looking for an improved performance but will need to do so without Viliame Kikau (pectoral) and Josh Addo-Carr (calf).

Suggested Bet:

Eels 1-12 at $3.10
