Catch A Wave $2

Catch A Wave produced a stunning debut victory for Andy and Kate Gath.

The two-year-old gelding put himself on the map as a serious horse with a win of sustained speed at Melton over 1720 metres a fortnight ago.

The Gath stable have a massive opinion of him and he will be going head to head with current odds-on favourite Muscle Bart who has the runs on the board.

That being said, Catch A Wave’s win rates quite close to what the favourite has produced in his career, so with natural fitness improvement, our selection can either equal or go better than what the favourite has dished out in his career.

Should get the perfect trailing, stalking role behind the favourite and be the one they have to beat in this race.

Sirletic $2.3

Josh Aiken is tasked with the drive on Sirletic here and should be able to guide this pacer to victory despite drawing the second row.

The rivals in front of him have the early speed to boot up and allow Aiken to score up and potentially angle off the inside.

This is the easiest race this favourite has run in for quite some time after running fifth of 13 runners in a much tougher field than he faces tonight.

He seems to enjoy racing at Ballarat with his last effort at the venue resulting in a smart victory over 2200 metres.

The drop back to what looks to be a very high-pressure 1710 meters around the Ballarat track will suit his solid turn of foot and stamina perfectly.

Best Roughie - Race 7

Diamonds N Cash $16/$4

Having a speculative play on Diamonds N Cash who is going better than his form would read on paper.

He was caught in a tough race last start over 2150 metres following a nice victory over the mile at Bendigo.

He now returns to a track where he has a heap of success at with four starts tallying up to three wins.

The big positive for him is the horse drawn in front of him has a heap of early speed, which will allow him to get an ideal trailing in behind and use the sprint lane to his advantage.

Quaddie (Races 5, 6, 7, 8)

This is a very competitive quaddie with the second leg offering us the opportunity to get a bigger percentage.

Our best roughie also pops up in the quaddie and if we can land that, then we might be in for a big collect from minimal outlay.
