Cameron Smith (Australia)
$17
Cameron Smith almost pulled off a $2.4 million payday in The Northern Trust last week, only to fall short at the final hurdle.
The 28-year-old who hails from Brisbane, has done his country proud this year and, if not for a handful of errors on the sudden death hole, would have won the multi-million dollar cheque.
One thing that you cannot knock is the confidence and skill of this man.
His PGA ranking holds him at 28th spot in the world, but it his form in recent tournaments that has the golf world buzzing about him.
His short game game sharp and his fairway game even sharper.
SUGGESTED BET:
Cameron Smith to win the BMW Championship at $17
Corey Connors (Canada)
$26
Canada’s Corey Conners seems to got under the guard of the bookies heading into this BMW Championship.
The 36th ranked PGA golfer conjured up eighth spot finish at Liberty National last week with the strong performance coming after he was 15th at The Open and 13th at the Olympics.
His form would suggest he must be considered among elite company in this event.
Conners is ranked seventh in strokes-gained off the tee this season and was the fifth-best player from tee to green in New Jersey.
He struck a brilliant round of 62 on the third day of The National Trust and that is sure to give him a confidence boost.
On an unfamiliar track, it would appear to play to his strengths given his power on the tees.
SUGGESTED BET:
Corey Connors to win the BMW Championship at $26
Victor Hovland (Norway)
$26
Viktor Hovland had a disastrous end to his time at The Northern Trust, but there were signs in the first three rounds that he can match it with the stars of the PGA scene.
It was a deadset horror show in his opening nine holes of the final round and, having gone out in 42, he thought it be a wise idea to snap his putter.
He then had to play the second half of his final round using a wedge when putting on the greens.
If you ever tried to put with anything but a putter, you will know it is a difficult feat.
Despite the disaster, he maintains the driving ability to put himself into a contending position and opening efforts of 68, 67 and 65 last week shows he has the ability, and is in the form, to challenge this week.
