Covert has trailled and jumpout quite stylishly in the lead up to his debut.
A Written Tycoon colt for Anthony & Sam Freedman, he has shown nice speed in a handful of quiet efforts to get him ready for a first-up attack over 1100 metres.
He trialled on a heavy nine track at Cranbourne over 800 metres and was beaten 4.5 lengths, but did it under his own steam.
In-form jockey Dean Holland has taken the ride and he can push forward from the wide gate rather than going back.

Lavish Girl went very well when breaking her maiden after resuming from a spell.
The three-year-old filly trucked up at the corner and won a dog fight up the straight with Starz Barwon.
It may not have a looked a brilliant win to the eye, but it was full of determination and grit.
The map looks in her favour here with the ability to take a perfect sit in behind the leaders.
She should improve a length or two from her first-up win and it will see her winning this.

Spring Valley $13/$3.3
It was tough to get a true gauge on the talent of Spring Valley if you just look solely at her most recent trial.
Her Cranbourne trial over 800 metres saw her find the line under light riding from her jockey, but taking the punt she has a fair bit left in the locker for this debut event.
She travelled well in the run for a juvenile with the customary nose roll now being applied to keep her mind on the job.
The three-year-old filly races at her home track and has Daniel Stackhouse in the saddle for company.
Stackhouse and the filly’s trainer Peter Moody have had a good association for many years and this looks no exception to the rule.
Each-way all day as they say.
