NRL Round 23, Tips and Previews

Titans vs. Storm

August 19th

The premiership favourite attempts to keep its incredible winning streak intact when it meets the Gold Coast Titans on Thursday night.

A 26-16 victory over the Raiders saw the Storm hold onto top spot and extend its winning streak to 18 games in a row last week.

The Titans, meanwhile, were left wanting after losing 36-6 to in-form South Sydney.

This is going to be a Storm victory… again.

Expect Josh Addo-Carr to fire as well.

SUGGESTED BET:

Storm -21.5 at $1.90

Panthers vs. Rabbitohs

August 20th

The class of Penrith clashes with the winning momentum of South Sydney on Friday night.

Penrith has overcome a blip on the radar to post two wins in a row on its way to holding down second spot on the NRL ladder, while the Rabbitohs has bagged home 10 wins in a row to almost guarantee a finals double chance.

Ivan Clearly’s men do have form over the Souths this year and, despite their drop off in the middle of year, have got their act together and should take home the chocolates here.

SUGGESTED BET:

Panthers head to head at $1.60

Raiders vs. Sea Eagles

August 20th

The fitness cloud over Tom Trbojevic would have Canberra chomping at the bit to get at Manly on Friday night.

The Raiders went toe to toe with Melbourne but fell just short, while Manly continued its charge towards finals.

This is going to be a close encounter and the line looks well over played here.

If Trbojevic is a late omission, the Raiders will cover the line easily. So keep an eye on the teams.

SUGGESTED BET:

Raiders +14.5 at $1.90

Sharks vs. Wests

August 21st

A last gasp chance presents itself for Cronulla when it faces Wests Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

It was a tear-the-hair-out type of loss against Newcastle last week for Cronulla, while the Wests posted a 24-16 win over the battling Cowboys.

The Sharks have shown much better form than the Wests this season and expect their body of work to come to the fore here.

Sharks should score here and keep their season alive.

SUGGESTED BET:

Sharks -4.5 at $1.91

Bulldogs vs. Knights

August 21st

Win and it makes the finals.

That is the story for Newcastle when it faces last place Canterbury come Saturday.

The Knights almost locked their finals berth with a nail-biting 16-14 win over Cronulla last week.

The Bulldogs have struggled all year and doubt anything will change here given their season is all over.

SUGGESTED BET:

Knights -17.5 at $1.90

Eels vs. Cowboys

August 21st

The free-fall form of the Parramatta Eels is put to the test when it faces the embattled North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday night.

The Eels looked certain to lock-away a spot inside the top four, but a four-game losing slide has them outside the double chance spots.

This is simply a must win against a Cowboys team that has been poor in the back half of the season.

While the Eels should win this, the Cowboys can cover the line.

SUGGESTED BET:

Cowboys +11.5 at $1.90

Dragons vs. Roosters

August 22nd

Sydney chug along into the last round of the season with the chance of a top four spot when it faces St George.

Even with the injuries throughout the year, the Roosters have defied all odds to be itself in a prime position heading into the finals.

St George was well handled by Penrith last week and, while it can definitely push the Roosters, the result earlier this year in favour of Sydney highlights the class gap between the teams.

SUGGESTED BET:

Roosters -14.5 at $1.90

Broncos vs. Warriors

August 22nd

The competitive year comes to an end for Brisbane and New Zealand when the pair do battle for the last game of the home and away season.

The Broncos have shown improvement on their wooden spoon year of 2020, but has still struggled to find any serious winning momentum, while the Warriors have been ravaged with injury.

New Zealand put some pride back in its season with a 24-10 win against the Bulldogs, but they will need to be much better against a Broncos team who pushed the Roosters again.

SUGGESTED BET:

Broncos +1.5 at $1.90
