Belmont Race 3

CELEBRITY MAN
CELEBRITY MAN ($1.70) is short but does look the winner. Placed both his starts at Ascot and Pinjarra as an odds-on favourite but this does look his chance. Willie Pike on drawn ideally in barrier three, just looks the winner. TENA KOUTOU ($5) is first-up after 23 weeks but has a recent trial at Lark Hill. Placed twice from three starts and looks the only danger. FREE SOLO ($5) Another oner resuming after an 18-week break but has some handy form, placed last start at Pinjarra. Had two trials coming into this and rates a chance.
Belmont Race 4

JEDI MIND
JEDI MIND ($1.80) broke his maiden last start at Pinjarra and does not meet a strong field here. Drawn ideally and looks the best bet of the meeting. JUSTHANDY ($5) won at Pinjarra two starts back and fifth at Belmont last start over 1300m. Shapes as the only danger. MIYAGI ($9) won first-up but beaten in two subsequent starts. One for the placings in a race that lacks depth.
Doomben Race 2
7
THE MOVE
THE MOVE ($1.90) won his last start over 1000m at Warwick Farm and drops in weight for this. Looks hard to beat. JETSKI ($5.50) looks the main danger. Finished third last start over 1350m at Doomben but Ben Thompson gets off to ride The Move which could be a pointer. SUPERARE ($9) has won two of his last four starts including last start over 900m on a heavy track at the Gold Coast. A repeat of that should see him in the finish.
Doomben Race 4

ORBISYN
ORBISYN ($1.20) is already prohibitive odds. Unbeaten in three starts and it should be four after this. He’s facing two last start winners in BOFORS ($12) and Two Smokin Barrels ($26) and they might provide some value in the quinella. Bofors was too good for his rivals over 1400m at the Gold Coast and he looks the likely runner-up. TWO SMOKIN BARRELS is resuming off a 17 week break after winning over 2200m at Grafton and won over 1640m at Doomben two starts back. This likely to be too short for him but he should be hitting the line strongly.
Sandown Race 3
9
MONTIA
MONTIA ($10) looks over the odds here. Won her last start at Ballarat over 1600m on a soft track and the trip here no problem. She looks a solid bet each-way. SWEET KAROLINA ($6.50) finished third last start at Flemington after winning at Geelong and rates as one of the main chances. STAR OF EDEN ($9) gets the blinkers off here and if she can relax should be in the finish. Solid fourth last start in the same race as Sweet Karolina at Flemington and can win. SPOONING ($2.70) looks plenty short enough. Worked hard to lead then stayed on for third behind Cherry Tortoni in the Adelaide Guineas after breaking her maiden at Pakenham. A repeat of her last start should see her as the one to beat but she does look short.

BERMADEZ
BERMADEZ ($4) has won goth his starts and looks untapped. Blew out late when scoring first-up over 1400m and bound to be fitter here. This is harder but he does look promising and can win again. SCANTOON ($8) finished second first-up at Cranbourne and bound to be improved here. FIERY RED ($10) looks likely to take then along at a solid pace and he’s handy enough to to give them something to chase. GLOBAL GIFT ($46) is massive odds. Finished eighth first-up at Cranbourne and the claim for the in-form Matthew Cartwright gets him in quite nicely at 61kg. He’s good enough to win and can add some value to the exotics.
Sandown Race 8

VARDANI
French import VARDANI (12) ran well enough on his Australian debut at Warrnambool to warrant an each-way bet in this. particularly if the forecast rain arrives. SMOKIN ROMANS ($5) was solid last start finishing runner-up over 1600m at Bendigo and rates a big chance as does OVER THE SKY ($3.50), a good winner over 1300m at Warrnambool at benchmark 64 level. EXCELLERATION ($6) and IRISH BUTTERFLY ($12) both race well in the same race at Bendigo last start and definite chances here.
